• Attribute Customization

NO. JUST. NO. Really. You can't balance a game with random stats. With the amount of weapons we have now, balance is already close to impossible. And I'd be REALLY, REALLY, pissed if someone playing the same class and the same weapons won a battle against me not because of skill or luck, but because he wielded better weapons. Just. Don't.
Oh yeah putting periods after words and using "just" really asserts your firm opinion on the situation. [editline]10:09PM[/editline] But yeah, depending on how they make sure people don't overpower their weapons this could really suck balls. [editline]10:09PM[/editline] You know what I bet they'll make you pay to make new attributes.
this will be great. but i bet one of the bugs will be hats with attributes. and it will be like the mini lvl3 sentry. people will abuse it till its dead.
but i bet one of the bugs will be hats with attributes.
uh what information are you basing this on
uh what information are you basing this on
its a wild guess,no one knows what will happen. or atleast me.face punch has been buggy for the last week.
I really don't want this to happen. I liked it when as soon as you saw an enemy, you knew what you were up against. TF2 has been moving further and further away from that all the time and while I can put up with it at the moment, this would probably be too much.
Agreed, it kind of sucks cornering a scout and not knowing whether he's going to pull out a Bonk! and run away or not. The new item sets also can create an annoyance. A sniper might see an enemy sniper wearing the Snaggletooth and having the new sniper out, so they might assume that the person is assume to headshots and go for a bodyshot, but there's no way to know whether he has the Bushwacka or not.
i wonder if we can stack attributes
+100% damage -100% movement speed
Where is the file located?
scripts/items in the GCF
A part of me says 'heck yes' and the other says 'dear god, just WHY?'. I like custimization but I think this particular customization takes the game way too far.
I think this would turn TF2 into an RPG. Next thing Valve needs to add is a bunch of dungeons full of Scout bots and a Heavy bosses.

I feel that the game reached its apex shortly before the WAR! Update (partially because of the introduction of the Demoknight) and has been gradually declining in quality since then. It's still a fantastic game, but it is becoming a bit too bloated. I've noted this before: there's a point at which the number of variables (in this case, weapons and passive bonuses) interacting with each other simply overwhelms the prospect of balance and simplicity.
i dont mind TF2 being an RPG. I dont see why people hate the idea,i loved it as an FPS,and ill love it as an RPG!
No No
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1326566 This is what i read to learn how to make my own custom weapons.
http://code.google.com/p/tf2itemseditor/ Use this. BONUS! Use the attribute "attach particle effect" and a number to attach some effects to weapons! (So far, the halo is the only hat I've been able to add a particle to.)
particle 1: Particle 1 (head is on fire) particle 2: flying bits (head is on fire, but smaller then Particle 1) particle 3: nemesis burst (the jagged outter edges of the nemesis icon) particle 4: community sparkle particle 5: holy glow (halo's glow) particle 6: green confetti particle 7: pruple confetti particle 8: haunted ghosts particle 9: green energy particle 10: pruple energy particle 11: tf2 logo particle 12: flies particle 13: burning flames particle 14: scorching flames (green) particle 15: searing plasma (purple/green) particle 16: vivid plasma (yellow/orange) particle 17: sunbeams particle 18: circling peace sign particle 19: circling heart particle 20: } (no particles attached, i'm assuming this is the end)
i.e. attach particle effect 12 for flies [editline]10:18PM[/editline] Chocolate attracts flies.
This thread makes me miss 2007, when everyone only had the default weapons and there was no imbalance whatsoever. :eng99:
I have yet to see any actual imbalance. What are you talking about?

He hasn't become any less powerful, though. As much as I personally hate Demoknights, I'm glad that they're not classic Demomen instead.
