An engineer with his whole buildings at lv.3 cleaverly placed and with the shotgun out is 1 badass enemy. Combine fire with your sentry to fend off demo's or soldiers and your good. The only weakness is a team with actual teamwork that saps and assaults your buildings or ubered ppl.

A sentry that has little wheels and follows the engineer that built it, however it has a slow firerate and deploy speed.
I think your idea for the .44 sounds a little to close to the Ambassador to be unique to the engineer. I had an Idea for an ammo gun (similar to the medigun) that the engineer would carry. He would work like a medic, but would give his partner unlimited ammo/metal and mini crits (10-15%). It might have to include a health debuff to prevent it from being OP. I was thinking maybe it would be better if it wouldn't work on an ally already being healed, and isn't stackable with another ammo gun (to prevent stacked crits). It would look kinda like a cross between a medigun and a dispenser.

I think the nailgun thing should be pistol sidegrade.

I'm thinking more of a spy sniffer or spydar which beeps faster the closer an enemy spy is to him.
Engie needs a bucket to spit in while he is by his nest.

He has a 5% chance of getting it in the cup. Upon getting it in the cup, he receives a 'hyperactivity' speed boost from his happiness. (Or entertained...ness) He shoots faster, reloads faster, upgrades faster... But at the cost of every 5 missed balls in a cup, he goes slightly slower. Due to frustration. It replaces the pistol, and the hyper activity lasts 10 seconds. As with the frustration, it lasts 10 seconds.

Maybe a snubnosed revovler could work, with a longer reload time - my friend suggested loading each shell individually into the cylinder.
Pop-up sentries he can stick into the ground, or onto walls and ceilings, and would be mostly camouflaged until they attack. The downside being a longer time to acquire targets, or less firepower.
Laser pistol that makes the sentry shoot where ever the laser is pointed Does no damage otherwise but blinds enemies for as long as the dot is on them if you aim at their head

he should get different types of turrets, like a shotgun turret, a fire turret and a.... death ray?
I'd like a Magnum for Engie, but it seems like the same thing as the Ambassador. Unless they made it bigger and badder. For example, lets say the recoil is so immense it has a cooldown time of 3.5 seconds or so, AND has crazy knockback for knocking ubers back from your stuff. As for a drawback....make it heavy so the engie runs slower with it, the knockback hurts engie a little bit when the gun hits him in the face, and...its got six shots or so. As for size of the Magnum, I'm thinking something kind of comical, like a grenade launcher sized pistol for engie, but the grenade slots are for giant freaking bullets. Maybe 3 times bigger than Spies Ambassador.
