maybe a drone dispensor; makes fake copies of team mates to distract enemies, when shot they blow up, when meleed, the player gets zapped and stunned
Imo they should somehow give the engi a lasso

Doesnt he have an extension cord?
OOH NOOOOO!
Imo they should somehow give the engi a lasso
I had an idea for a laser lasso for engineer. Probably he'll get a more realistic one though. The idea is to use the lasso to "Wrangle" a class and when wrangled the class caught can't move or attack, and maybe using the mouse wheel, the Engie can drag the class in front of teammates or Sentries. Lone Heavies would be especially vulnerable.
Possibly the caught person could do something to get out of the lasso, like crouch jumping, or something. Also, it replaces the shotgun and can "Catch" Ubers.
The lasso can be burned and meleed off by enemy teammates.
Sound like a good idea?
I think he'll really need that.
A better idea would be a spy disguise locator, like in prototype. If it sees a spy near it, it beeps.
Stupid idea, engies are good enough at dealing with spies as it is.
The engineer needs a fucking leaf blower.

TAKE THAT STICKY GRENADES!
emp grenade. with it we'll see the return of rambo engies
Needs more whiskey
Bowie knife
Colt peacemaker
and Winchesters.

and steampunk sentries
Yeah, I think a Colt Peacemaker would be the perfect weapon. A Single Action revolver that he has to cock every time, maybe a black powder one so it takes longer to reload. It'd be slow as hell to fire, but powerful.
But overall I think that giving him a revolver it is a lame, unoriginal one, and the Engineer should get something crazy like a raping tree.

And then they could give the medic the ability to infect people again. :v:
Revolver that has a knock back effect on it, works on uber'd players.
Would help with defence.
He needs something to help his buildings from Ubered Demoman, Heavies, Pyros, etc.
He should get a vacuum cleaner that can airblast enemies away. It would help keep ubers and stickies away, and prevent spies from getting close enough to sap.

SMOOOOOKER!!!
/caps
If he is going to get a .44 Magnum, it should replace his Shotgun. Why? Let me show you something.
Scout:
Pistol -> Bonk!
Pyro:
Shotgun -> Flaregun
Heavy:
Shotgun -> Sandvich
Medic:
Medigun -> Kritzkrieg
Sniper:
SMG -> Jarate / Razorback
Every secondary weapon unlock is supposed to be way different than the original weapon (not including kritzkrieg and flaregun).

No. Sentry Nests only really have ubers as their weaknesses, something that will get rid of that weakness will bring on the stalemate. Either the Engie needs to have a nerf or something to deter from sentry nests. Maybe the Electro Sapper could explode and destroy nearby sentries?
I'd like to see a portable force field you can put up.
I thought of an idea.
Mines that blow up when stepped on (could thwart some foolish players and cloaked spies...?).
That sort of falls under the demoman category of weapons. The engie needs something like a laser tripmine, like the SLAM from HL2. Could be good for demo too, maybe?
The obvious really is a mobile sentry, pretty small and a weak weapon but it dispences ammo (no healing however, that would make the medic redundant). It would follow the engie about, and if he is killed it should just stay put till destroyed, or until another engineer comes along to reactivate it, so it would start to follow them.

Holy shit, good idea.
Maybe he could get metal plates, which he can attach on buildings and give them more durability, trading away his pistol for it. So you'd be either offense or defense oriented.
It's not a bad idea it's just boring. Everyone will want to use the big-ass magnum instead of the little pistol. Think of something original to replace the pistol, not just an alternative pistol.
My idea was a Lasoo to replace the pistol. He uses his electrical cord as a Lasoo that he can throw to retrieve weapons and ammo boxes for metal without venturing into combat.
Also there should be no unlocks that assist the engineer in hindering ubercharges. Ubercharges beat engy nests, and it has to stay that way.

Not really useful, but a funny idea.
almost every idea in this thread makes the game unbalanced, engi is balanced now, i don't think valve is gonna update anywhere soon
Needs more rockit launchers and a sentry with flamethrower. Or a scoped sentry. Or a scoped wrench. You decide.
Ability to build a wall with a lot of hp.
Advanced target finder, replaced pistol.
attach to turret, turret is now able to target and shoot incomming missles or grenades.
OR
sap guard 9000, replaced pistol, when placed on a building, covers sappable areas in non-conductive material, spys are no longer able to sap your building.
comes in quanitys of one and is non replacable from anywhere excecpt death, and can only be used on ONE building.
dispencer or turret? idk lol.
the sap driller, replaced sapper, spy.
you only get 2 of these but once placed they drill into the building placed on, they go through the sap guard 9000 if installed and sap the turret.
Xtreme laser pointer, replaced rocket launcher, soldier.
you get half the ammount of rockets and can only hold two before reloading but these can be guided by a laser, now you can try to avoid that pesky turret with the advanced target finder installed.

:smug:
He needs a "Ro-Bot"
He should get another building or two, like a small wall for cover or something to protect his buildings from an ubercharge, at the cost of sentry/dispenser power/efficiency. His pistol...well, I agree. The .44 would be perfect, and should have less damage or accuracy if camped on top of a Dispenser. Actually...
The Texas Turtle
Item Shape: Fairly shield-like.
Item Purpose: To protect buildings from ubercharged players and spies.
Item Usage: When an ubercharged player comes within a few meters of the buildings in the range of the Turtle, they'd get bounced back, either until their ubercharge runs out (at that point they'd die of sentry fire) or until they can take down the turtle (which, for anti-uber purposes, would have 600 or so health). Any spy trying to sap a sentry under the turtle would get a nasty shock which would uncloak them, however, the sapper would still get placed, but any other sentry/person in the area would kill them off instantly.
Wall
Item Shape: A fairly mechanical looking wall.
Item Purpose: Not neccesarily for the Engineer himself (see: turtle), but rather, for his teammates to use.
Item Usage: What the fuck do you think? You hide behind it.
It should be like the HL2 magnum.
