EDGE Suggests Valve start selling advantages in TF2

Is this in any shape or form related to the edge gamers organisation? ( =(eGO)= ) (you know, those ego guys that ban you if you say "fuck", spam their servers with "the server isn't full, invite your friends!" style messages if the server has one open slot, and considering themselves better than everyone else)

Sadly it isn't, EDGE is a well respected industry magazine with a lot of good content, this however is jsut disturbing.

What a mad human being he is.

"If selling an advantage ruins the game, you haven't done the balancing right"
If you did the balancing correctly you wouldnt need to pay for game advantages.
"Hey big corporation, I make browser games where people have to pay to really play, I can see you could use some pointers from my own experience.
Now lets see here, hmm.. You should make the Medic and the Engineer be paid to unlock as they're really only support classes and the only people would play them would pay also.
You should also buff the scout's HP by 75 as they can't survive much as the other classes.
You should jack up the pricing on all Mann Co. Stores at least 25%, the playerbase won't mind it.
You can also sell custom maps for 2$ each, with the real popular one's going up to 5$.
If people are whining that paying for advantages are unfair, then they shouldn't play, as obviously paying for advantages with no drawbacks makes a perfect game.
Trust me guys, I make browser online games!!"
What a douche.

Hmmm, an Online farm simulator. Such an innovative and original idea for a game.

Totally does not look like farmville :v:
His point was immediately invalid when he said "the game is already balanced as such"
there are still far too many useless unlocks and straight-upgrade unlocks.

It's a magazine for developers and such, not 12 y/o hat collectors.
I'm just speechless, how does he think that these are valid ideas for TF2? Since pay to win totally means balanced.

Interestingly they've been released on the same year, but Farmville is older by a few months.

How did someone think promotionals were a valid idea for a Team Fortress franchise game?
Team Fortress 2 is not appealing to anyone who expects a Team Fortress game out of it, if they are let known of the masses of non-TF stuff in it.
And why's everyone hating on EDGE? They're usually a pretty good publication that I always look forward to picking up if I'm in a country that sells copies.

Team Fortress promo items for TF2.

That game was good until they started selling advantages.
They had a good game there, then they fucked it up.
That article was probably funniest thing I've read in a long time.
Go to hell, Philip, and take your cheap suit with you.

All the weapons are sidegrades, not upgrades. So I don't see the problem with selling weapons in TF2.

Technically, it's not impossible to have a Rocket or Sticky jumper without using the Mann Co store.
I have a Rocket Jumper that wasn't store bought. So really, there's no non-promo weapons in TF2 you have to pay for
It's balanced though, and doesn't provide an advantage in gameplay, as it can be easily countered.
My point was it's a straight upgrade from the vanilla weapon. Same story with The Solemn Vow.
