NVM, got it to work, thanks guys (i put the tools in the wrong folder)
I'm getting this error too but I can't fix it, someone help.
I installed the beta, and then the hotfix and tools. What's wrong?
It launches but when I load a map the error pops up.

Help :frown:
What error?
Is there any way to get the TF2 Beta without being Warez? I've already got the full game.

You can't use this without an early version of TF2.
Valve does not provide this version today - although generally you are allowed to keep a seperate copy of a game as backup.

Your tools are in the wrong bin... it's Team Fortress/bin, not Team Fortress/tf/bin...
Once I put them in the right folder, it still says the error when I try to load a map for me but then it loads the map anyways after like 30 more seconds.
I think we need a new thread for this with ALL of the tips on one convenient post.

Thanks, I'll try this later.
Question: I've been trying to adjust depth of field with aperture and focal distance settings, but they keep resetting. I've tried animating the camera parameters, but no matter what I do, it'll make a point with the value I've given, and then the line will slowly fall back to 0 over the duration of the recording. Any way to keep it at one specific value?
Edit it via the Dme Editor, that's what it's for. The Animation Set editor just creates implicit keyframes.
[editline]09:31AM[/editline]
I'm surprised it's working for you, though.
I've been trying to do it with the DME Editor, it keeps resetting. I'll mess around some more.
Are you sure you're editing the exact camera you're using? Check that you aren't HOOKED ON A FEEELING
I've started making my very own Meet The with this, it's already clocking in at 1:30 :v:
[editline]10:42AM[/editline]
I still haven't found out how to make the DoF more intense, though; there's a fuckload of cameras in the DME editor, and none of them seem to control it
[editline]10:48AM[/editline]
Hey, does anyone know how to solve the double-muzzleflashes problem?
Are you sure you're editing the exact camera you're using? Check that you aren't HOOKED ON A FEEELING
You may be onto something. I can't record a stationary camera and have it show up in the DME Editor. It'll only show up if I have it from the player's perspective. Any ideas? :S
Edit: I'm dumb, nevermind. Just recording the first pass and then editing that camera works perfectly. I had to set the focal length to something ridiculous like 7000.
Oh and to increase the strength, increase your aperture.
Can you show me the Dme Editor for your current clip *and* the Camera Bin? I don't consider recording the world and the player's view at the same time a good idea unless you're explicitly trying to record in first person.
Try zooming into your clip and removing all previously recorded camera tracks - the default behavior for a camera is to stay put.

Replying to the first post twenty-three pages later?
Aw fuck, son of a bitch. It's only 30 seconds long:

Are they keeping logs? At this volume, I doubt it. I highly doubt they *can* tell it's the SFM, either.
I just finished reading the entire thread, i have a problem. I had the first install on, i started hl2 with tools, loaded ok, i saw the background map in the recorder view. File>load map, i load any map, it goes to the introduction page (with the blackboard) and it freezes, with looping ambient sound (the same you hear when you join a game). I tried reinstalling, running it in compatibility mode, deleting the background maps, closing steam but nothing helped.
If you can help me I'll re-read the whole thread and make a new one with all the tips from all the thread :3:
[editline]05:44PM[/editline]
I fixed it, it was an issue with the MOTD. I'll proceed to make the thread later, as promised (when i'm done with homework)

How did you fix the bug? I have the same bug.
So did anyone expand on the animation thing? (The floating demo and frog)

I'll post that in the thread i'm making soon.

If VAC is enabled it's a potential.
If VAC is enabled it's a potential.
Stop talking about shit you dont know about, tf2 beta isn't linked to steam either its vac can communicate with it. And vac is an automatic system, there's no human interface.
Oh aye?

And so what does that say?
So did anyone expand on the animation thing? (The floating demo and frog)
(reference for everyone else)
I have a feeling that right clicking the clip in the timeline, selecting "create animation set", "add new model" then selecting a model is the way to go.
If you select a character model, you can facepose them and animate it, but I don't know how to animate their body, or do something like animating a turret to look and shoot.
I also don't know how to get an object to move, like that frog did. I'm gonna bet that the same method to move an object could be used on a camera, giving us the ability to smoothly animate cameras properly rather than having to noclip around.
Oh aye?

All your posts make me think you either are a troll or a dumbass. The TF2 console prints VAC enabled even when you're disconnected from the internet or steam. So shut up if you don't know what you're talking about. Really, it's annoying.

Nope, I just tried it and it didn't show VAC enabled on the console.
