Sometimes when it doesn't do anything as in your case, it helps if i do like this. If you can't quite understand, then i stretch that blue thing to the beginning.
Nothing happens :saddowns:
random: I was wondering...Day of Defeat had the first major Source Filmmaker usage. Doesn't DOD use the same engine as TF2? Is there anyway to take the engine files from TF2 beta and use the DOD stuff in it, allowing DOD machinima?
Someone pointed out that you were able to mess with anything pre-TF2 beta as well, just by adding the tool .dlls and changing the shortcut properties, but no one's actually tested it yet.

I had the same problem until I simply made a folder on my desktop and saved them there. Export WAV audio only first, and then do only TGA files.
My first test.
That is some mighty weird camera shake, but glad you're able to put out your first video. Keep it up!
I can't work with SFM crashing on me whenever I open a save with lots of takes.... it used to work before, too. Stupid non-release leaks.
I can't work with SFM crashing on me whenever I open a save with lots of takes.... it used to work before, too. Stupid non-release leaks.
Known bug, don't think there's a fix :(
Someone pointed out that you were able to mess with anything pre-TF2 beta as well, just by adding the tool .dlls and changing the shortcut properties, but no one's actually tested it yet.
i have, works fine. should work with anything newer as well, excluding newer particles and game specific entities.
Awesome. What would I change for "-game" in the shortcut target then?: -game tf -tools -console -applaunch 440 -window -noborder -novid -w 1280 -h 720

I can't figure out how to get the camera to record me in 3rd person. Halp?
I can't figure out how to get the camera to record me in 3rd person. Halp?
In the console : sv_cheats 1 thirdperson

Someone should remake the first/second trailer of TF2. :v:
Someone did the second trailer iirc.
I can't seem to find the damn Beta anywhere, which makes me feel silly because of all the people who have found it :saddowns:
Not sure about you guys, but Im actually having alot of fun using this tool.
Not sure about you guys, but Im actually having alot of fun using this tool.
Me too, but the exporting problem makes me go crazy. I can live with it, but I want high quality videos.
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08M6R95F5Xw&hd=1[/hd]
A little too much flying around with the camera. Haha it's even worse than my "Fastest kid in the world" video
You never know what demomen do when they are drunk.. [editline]08:28PM[/editline] Making videos with this is fun :v:
I'll be updating OP with a ton of information today. If anyone would like to contribute (banners, pre-typed tutorials, video tutorials etc) please do. I'll be starting with crap i've already got on the SFM blog and be adding the bit that wrote about custom maps. I wrote it up at school because i had extra time my exams =P [editline]edit[/editline] I have finished updating OP, check it out!
My second test, the camera shake is better, but the audio quality is shit because after rendering the video from film maker it wouldn't open in sony vegas, so I had to compress it in format factory.
I just finished the tutorial on custom maps for SFM, go read it, it took an hour to type O_o Custom Map Tutorial I also added it to OP.

Once you extract the materials from the TF2 Materials GCF, you can easily search for all the .vtfs in that folder (just search for the extension .vtf in that folder), and add the "VTF Version" column by right clicking on the filterable columns, clicking on "More..." and checking the box which says "VTF Version." Let it compute for a bit, then you can sort by VTF version of the TF2 VTFs. Hope that saves people some time until a script (or something similar) comes along. :)
