And you're stuck with only content from the TF2 Beta (6 maps :ohdear:)
Can't you just place the TF2 maps with needed materials and models in the TF2 beta folder?
It's not really as versitile as you guys would expect. I imagine Valve's got a better version of the tool, but the one from the TF2 beta is good for only a couple things. 1. Rendering motion blur 2. Recording multiple instances of yourself in the level 3. Rendering poster images (you can export images of any size. I have a gigantic 19800 x 10800 TGA of a close up Pyro that's about 600 MB 4. Placing static cameras. (haven't come up with a way to move the cameras along tracks quite yet) And you're stuck with only content from the TF2 Beta (6 maps :ohdear:)
1.Add maps to the maps directory. 2.Checks materials if all is fine. 3.??? 4.Profit!
1.Add maps to the maps directory. 2.Checks materials if all is fine. 3.??? 4.Profit! [editline]12:38AM[/editline] Ninja'd
Please read my quote again
it's still the old engine dlls. The new ones cycle out the old tool dlls. If anyone figures this out, tell me. I also keep getting those vtf errors.
I think it's similar to when everyone wanted tf2 stuff in garry's mod
so basicly you took the filmmaker that was on the gcfs on the tf2 beta of 2007, used the new engine dlls to run it and post this awesome videos. clever. very clever.
Actually, I'm only in the beta TF2. Haven't figured out a way to get it into present-day TF2 without Steam fucking with it and over-writing the old 2007 files with newer versions.
That is enough for a DoD advert.
Um, that is part of a DoD advert.
1:33 no
He's not claiming to have made that.
Maybe it's a premade video file just to show off the effects that come with the filemaker.
I don't see why. Crysis has it.
Actually, I take back what I said about it earlier. It's the DOF that takes for ever to render. 64 passes of motion blur without DOF takes no time flat to render. Edit: I take that back too. Having one effect on at a time significantly shortens the render time. DOF with no motion blur is instantaneous. Motion blur without DOF is pretty quick. Put them together and you have about 10x the render time
So, the people that have gotten it to work, why not post a quick tutorial (Minus download links obviously) on how to get it to work.
So, the people that have gotten it to work, why not post a quick tutorial (Minus download links obviously) on how to get it to work.
i wouldn't mind doing it if someone can help debug the vtf issue.
i wouldn't mind doing it if someone can help debug the vtf issue.
They'll most likely need the tool before they can be of any help :kiddo:
Cool and all but too much hassle right now I'll wait for Valve to officially release it after they're done with all the meet the movies (wanted a new on the war update, didn't happen)
i wouldn't mind doing it if someone can help debug the vtf issue.
Bah how are we supposed to know if we don't have it?
How come they can't put motion blur like that into the game, if it's already rendered like that.
I just found a way to kind of animate inside the SFM. This thing is more intricate than I thought. [editline]10:24PM[/editline]
How come they can't put motion blur like that into the game, if it's already rendered like that.
Doesn't work well in real time.
Time to explain the whole thing, as long as someone tries to fix stuff =P Get ahold of the earliest version. You know how. *wink* Make sure it's non-steam. Next, find the need files for the bin/tools folder. There was a link posted on an earlier page of this thread. Follow the instructions on that page, then find the hl2.exe and create a shortcut. Right click-properties and add the following text to target: "-game tf -applaunch 440 -window -noborder -novid -tools" without the quotes. I wont explain how to use it, cause im a little ahead of you guys, and i already posted a basic demonstration.

I was playing with the poster export function. Rendered a couple of cool hi-res pictures. :siren:WARNING BIG ASS IMAGES AHEAD:siren: (right click -> view image) 3000 x 1500 6000 x 3000
Is Valve ever going to release this source filmmaker?
Is Valve ever going to release this source filmmaker?
Everyone believes they will when all the Meet the Team videos are done.
Can you use the current versions of the Source '07 GCFs with this?
Can you use the current versions of the Source '07 GCFs with this?
I don't believe so.
Rage, the links for shared models and sounds on the Russian Site We Love are broken.
Rage, the links for shared models and sounds on the Russian Site We Love are broken.
the are other ways to get it. Use your noggin
Shall not be surprised if you get a cease and desist type of letter from the TF2 Team. Simply saying "Oh I'm not giving the links out", then fully supporting, promoting and encouraging going elsewhere and downloading the TF2Beta illegally, isn't exactly leaving you totally in the clear you know?
It's Valve. Not a chance in a million, I'd say - they tend to disown their betas.

It was a public beta from over two years ago :saddowns:
It's Valve. Not a chance in a million, I'd say - they tend to disown their betas.
What you say and what Valve say are two totally different things. So forgive me when I say I don't feel your assumption is correct. Secondly, it's warez of their product. The TF2Beta was pretty much a fully playable game people received after pre-purchasing the game. Meaning it wasn't, and never should be free. Edit:
Who cares? It was a public beta from over two years ago :saddowns:
Wrong, it was never "Public". It was made available to the people that bought TF2 as a pre-purchase. Secondly, before you reply: "I've bought TF2" If you download a torrent, or a zip/rar whatever containing a non-steam version of TF2. Do you honestly think everyone else downloading that same file, have bought TF2 legitimately? Think for a moment. Lastly: If these crucial files that are needed to run the Film Maker were removed in an official patch update, it's not really rocket science to realise the TF2 Team don't want you messing around with this yet.
