Personally, I create 15 or 16 frame sprays of fast-cycling porn images. All hand picked, custom re-sized for perfect framing... They are frequently called 'art' by their viewers. I'm so proud.

Since that's an animation with only a few frames, you can just duplicate the frames once or twice while simultaneously dropping the resolution, which randomly seems to do the trick. More frames (by way of duplicates) = the illusion of a slower playback though. You just have to reduce the physical size of the frames to keep it under the 512kb limit. 15 or 16 frames is the most you'll get at 256x256, but at 128x128 (if you can stand to go that small), you could do well over 20 (I don't know how many exactly, but I did an animation with almost 20 frames the other night and it was about 350kb).

I always tought that the animations couldn't have more than 5 frames, well I will keep that In mind when I make sprays
They increased the limitations on sprays not too long ago. Now it's 512kb max size... Each frame, regardless of the quality of its contents, has an internal 'hard limit' on the minimum physical size it will occupy. That's why there's a cap on the frame limit, which in this case is about 15 or 16 for 256x256 sized sprays. So long as there isn't an excess of detail in your frames, a 15 frame 256x256 animated spray should almost always end up being about 480 - 490kb or so.
And just in case you weren't sure - you can't do 512x512 animated sprays, as Source automagically downscales them anyway.
