Well it's similar to a guy walking up to you in real life with bright pink pants and a bright yellow tophat and asking if he looks good.
No, it doesn't look good. No matter how funny the situation is, it's just an ugly combination of colors. Doesn't take Hugo Boss himself to explain that.
No.
This is a game.
It doesn't look good in real life, and it sure as shit doesn't look any better in a game.
War doesn't look good in real life either.
No shit. War isn't a visual style, it's a physical act of violence.
I don't get the complaining, honestly. I just play the game and have fun with it, not giving a shit about the so called "clutter".
No shit. War isn't a visual style, it's a physical act of violence.
Go on.
you're comparing apples to oranges.
war is simulated because humans are drawn to violence, it's irrelevant.
i'm talking about visual styling. it's an absolute. either you have an ugly palette that doesn't match or you do. it's a 1:1 ratio and it doesn't matter if it's in a game or in real life. the colors translate directly, whereas war is simulated and not translated.
unless you can play games where you physically harm the person you're against...
Think of pink hats as big targets then it works out better.
you're comparing apples to oranges.
They're both fruits.
Well i'm implying that the community is segregated into 2 groups: The ones that think all these new visual gimmicks look cool, and the ones who enjoyed the look and feel of Old TF2.
I'm on the side that doesn't give a shit either way and just wishes that everyone would stop whining about these things.
Oh hey, free content even though the game was released three years ago
NEW THINGS RA RA OH FUCK THIS VANILLA VANILLA
Jesus you people are so opposed to change.
not all change is good change, wiseass.
what if valve added an update that changed the heavy's playermodel to a bear? would you praise them because it's new content?
jesus christ you people never stop with that logic.

You can still visualize war in its raw form.
Sometimes I feel like the only one who can have fun with this game anymore. The rest seems to freak out over hats and items or complaining about hats and items.
I play the game for the game, not how it looks. I couldn't give two shits about how there are silly hats. The worse thing is how they have so many weapons you have to juggle and know what each person is capable of, kind of like memorizing the periodic table. On the old TF2, you knew what each class did.

Sometimes I feel like the only one who enjoys taking very large shits.
You can still visualize war in its raw form.
yes but tf2 does anything but that. it's cartoony violence with outlandish weapons.
i don't get the point you're trying to make here. i'm saying that it doesn't matter if it's ingame or in real life, you can still tell if something looks like absolute shit and doesn't match a color palette.
Well it's similar to a guy walking up to you in real life with bright pink pants and a bright yellow tophat and asking if he looks good.

I think that'd look pretty cool myself.
This isn't Fashion Fortress 2. Color combinations don't matter.
[editline]12:02AM[/editline]
Are what colors go together and what colors don't really set in stone like that?
yes but tf2 does anything but that. it's cartoony violence with outlandish weapons.

So you're saying games have to look fashionable?
okay so what if i made a mod that inverted the color of every model? would you use it?
no, because it would look like shit. which is what i'm getting at with hats. some hats just aren't meant to be certain colors.
That would be fucking cool.

No but I wouldn't complain about it either.
okay so what if i made a mod that inverted the color of every model? would you use it?
That would be really interesting, actually. Sign me up.

Are you implying something?
No but I wouldn't complain about it either.
well what if it were forced on you, much like this hat update was forced on everyone?
well what if it were forced on you, much like this hat update was forced on everyone?
Then I'd happily enjoy my inverted TF2 and not take any aspect of the game seriously.

Well, I also enjoy swallowing my food whole.
-snip-
I can't tell who's arguing what.

People are disgruntled because much of the new content that Valve has recently implemented into the game is - quite frankly - bad. Even before the update, hats were beginning to stray away from matching the character of the class which they were attributed to; particle effects and customization option worsen this, as they violate not only design principles but aesthetic principles.
If you want to look at the update for what it is, just look at Valve's own advice.
Also, hats are completely fucking stupid in and of themselves. It is almost all the community talks about these days, and I can't stand it personally. This community used to be one of the most inventive and clever out there, but now it just eats up whatever Valve throws at it, and obsesses over aesthetic trinkets rather than the game itself.
By the way, NEUFDANIELS is just being a contrarian; ignore him until he makes a legitimate point.
The only thing I don't like about the update is Your Eternal Reward and the fact that it reduced my FPS to an average of 25.

No you wouldn't. I don't agree that the pink hats or whatever is destroying TF2 (or whatever), but your posts are just getting stupid.
Yeah, you would bitch if everything was inverted.
