The store prices are high because you are not supposed to buy items, they are supposed to be rewards for buying the game yadda yadda I'm gonna watch you guys dumb me
Hats are supposed to be shit hard to find, not for you guys to buy the Hatless Scout for .01
nobody cares about rarity anymore I have good hats for all the classes I play thanks to trading rarity is dead and I personally don't give a shit if Valve gave every hat to everyone for free at this point [editline]04:28PM[/editline]
It's too late. If they lowered anything now the people who actually wasted their money on them would complain a lot.
This is the company that sold TF2 for $2 and gave away Portal for free. Only idiots end up complaining.
That's the thing, it's a fine line, they can't be too cheap or there will be be no value in hats. Ostensibly the reason why you desire hats is because you're a more-or-less a hardcore tf2 player who wants something unique to differentiate yourself from other players, but then that loses alot of value if any noob with a credit card could buy everything in the game for $5 :P The prices are set high to create barriers to keep hats rarer... but actually it gets alot more expensive if u consider the unusual hats; Consider the drop rate for unusual hats... the chances of getting an unusual hat from a crate is 2.6% (http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Crate#Chances_of_Getting_the_Contents ) let's be lazy and round that off to 2% and say 1/50 chance. If it costs $2.5 for a key, then it'll cost you around $125 to buy 50 keys. Then, factor in all the shit you had to trade to even get 50 crates, making any single unusual hat the most goddamn expensive single thing you could hope to forcefully purchase in TF2 :O Not saying it's a good system, but that's the intention of the system (+ making money of course :P They have to feed the development team to keep updating this game)
Go take your gay scout fetish somewhere else you... you... FUCK
way to go starting this when he didnt even say anyhing remotely close to scouts
Go take your gay scout fetish somewhere else you... you... FUCK
That wasn't even funny when it first started. OT: Yes, the prices are abominable. It's bad, but meh, what can we do.
Valve is Playfish.
Hey,I must say that!
What's the tagline? :iiam:
High hat prices are to keep hats rare.
High hat prices are to scam the idiots who want the new items the instant they're out.
