yes! i lag on gmod and css though aswell, not only tf2
Same :emo:
Good, I'm not the only one
Oh yes. Oh god yes.
You're not the only one. Every minute I get a lag spike. It always happens at the worst time. Like when a spy saps my sentry, when I backstab someone, when I get an ubercharge, and all that terrible shit. Sometimes it lasts so long that I time out and get kicked.
I assume you are on wireless?
Go to Start > Run, cmd. In command prompt, ping your router (or somewhere else reliable) every second:
ping -t 192.168.1.1 (replace with your router IP, or whatever)
If within 60+ seconds, one of the pings is way higher (like you see 4ms, 6ms, 4ms, 800ms), then you have the extremely common Windows Wireless Problem. WOOHOO!!
Check out an overly-wordy post I made (it is specifically for Vista Linksys users, but its got all the info anyone would need. Vista users, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SKIP THE ENTIRE section about reverting to XP drivers, just get Vista AntiLag, or the .bat files at the end!)

If you are on XP, all you have to do is Run services.msc, and disable Windows Zero Config. You might need to re-enable at some point if you can't connect to the internet. This just disables Windows searching for a new network every 60 seconds, which causes this.
Also, the .bat files I included in my post perhaps are all you need!
But if on Vista, it can be a bit lengthier. I, and many others, had to revert to XP drivers before we could get it working properly.
But yes, I never die while being ubered anymore, and its FUCKING FANTASTIC :)
Koth_viaduct puts a nice dent into my FPS but It's still playable.
Besides that, no problems.
A few more disconnects, but same FPS and loading times.
I was having an issue like this with L4D, sounds exactly the same. My game would 'freeze' up with lag, then i would come back only 5 seconds or so later. Really annoying, completely random when it hit. That problem didnt start until the latest l4d patch for me, so i did a bit of searching.
The solution I found to fix it for me, was i turned off the Multi-Core Rendering option in the video settings.
I dunno if TF2 has that option, but if it does, i recommend turning it off, and see if that stops it.
That was an easy fix. I thought it was an internet issue, but it was just the video option that had been changed with the patch..

Wow, I had the Vista Antilag running while I was playing TF2... I only lagged once, usually I get lag everywhere from every 30 seconds to every 10 minutes. I only went on 2 servers and TF2 is the only game I've tried... but wow.
And this was when other people in my house were watching videos on Youtube. ( I was lagging like this before the Classless update)
I run on LAN (Cable Internet) and I still lag like fuck.

i just had to replace the drivers from linksys to ralink drivers, and run a small program called Wlan opzitmizer in the background at all times, works like a charm
when it works after like a year of playing with lag, its like heaven :3:
Am i the only one whos preformance has increased?
Nope. When TF2 first came out I was getting 10-20fps. Now I get at least 60.
