Don't force your contests on everything.
Professionally you will rarely get a brief from a client like "do what you want" Not being able to follow a theme is for poor minded.
Although i agree that professionally this is a real scenario, i dont agree on inability to follow themes and requests are poor minded. There are people who's work flow cannot support outside input.
...well, can we still have this without Spark? I'd love to see it happen anyways
Count me out.
Well it´s your thing to join/ be left out.
Spark would you join if there are no themes?
Spark would you join if there are no themes?
It having themes makes no difference, it's that you're trying to force it is whats off-putting.
I go away fro dinner and things go apeshit about the contest, Let me bring out the following statement again; Keep it simple for the first time and don't force it on people. If it is successful you can then expand upon it.
We´re just trying to organize a fun competition between the tf2 modders, we are not forcing anyone, but we are happy to have as many people joining as possible.
Prizes? This is the dumbest idea you guys have ever had. honestly
It having themes makes no difference, it's that you're trying to force it is whats off-putting.
-snip, what Tal says-
Ok, so we need to go about this in a better way then. We want to make sure everyone can and wants to participate and not make it too forceful. Too bad I have no idea how to do that :v:
Although i agree that professionally this is a real scenario, i dont agree on inability to follow themes and requests are poor minded.
Prizes? This is the dumbest idea you guys have ever had. honestly
I think this contest is not about the winning, it's about the fun. But whats bad at giving the winner an in-game item; as it does nothing like changing this (and nobody is having to give one, if there are some, that's good, if not also).
I never said only idiots work out of theme. It was more a little bit to counter sparks "themes are for schmucks"
What's ironic is, fundamentally, every TF2 item we all ever made is for a THEME, which is TF2.
I'm sorry I wanted to be a part of this, I just tainted the whole contest with my traditional bad luck and ruined it from everyone.
Don't say that Chalk. It's a conglomeration of things causing trouble. None of them are you. <3
No prices, problem solved. And now... Get ready for the fun!
I still want to see sparkwire's version of ronin's scout vest.
I still want to see sparkwire's version of ronin's scout vest.
WE ALL WANT ! Edit: Except Psyke ;)
ffs, five pages ago someone was saying about how un-dramatic this emporium has been so far. THEN THIS HAPPENS
If we're going to have theme "community updates" every two weeks there won't be much point to them. The reason why Medieval and Halloween were so popular and well done was because they took time, and had a huge gap between them, making sure there is enough hype. Tal if you're going to spew updates every month, the mods will be shit, no matter who makes them due to lack of time, there will be no publicity due to nobody really knowing who the fuck you are, and no modder in their right mind will apply. I know you're just trying to be the next Mnemosynaut, and guess what, it ain't working.

And it's fun for the ones who make this also. O.o (And Cave-Story Update was just between some of us who wanted to host it due to CS+ getting published. Nobody had to do something but they could look what we did...)

And about the community update: no one made that, so I thought by myself why shouldnt I just put together all released christmas things. And why not? Is it really that bad? I cant get much better when I never move my ass.
ffs, five pages ago someone was saying about how un-dramatic this emporium has been so far. THEN THIS HAPPENS
This ain't drama. Its just a discussion.
Hey look, a model. A very early WIP, I'm calling it "The Heartbreaker". Hopefully getting it in for a V-day event. Obviously this is just a quick AO/base textures with default Saxxy .vmt settings. I have a ton of work to do on all of the texturing, and the rigging isn't perfected yet, either. I feel I'm missing something with the model itself, specifically with the FPV. Suggestions? I think it will likely need a normal map like the Ambassador.
