The system works!
It only works if they tell people. This was not announced to the majority who don't use SPUF or Facepunch.
It is overly harsh, although it does send a clear message, don't be a dick.
Personally, if I were in your spot, I would've raged so badly that fire would've come out of my asshole.
I enjoyed the scamming far too much to get angry.
Valve should just remove all items in the scammer's backpack, suspend from trading for about 3-5 months, and return the items to the victim. Repeated offenses lead to VAC.
y/n?
I was scared my account was going to get disabled due the fact that I renamed my backburner to Community Nerdburner and since it actually isn't a Community weapon Valve would've thought that I would try to pass it off as such and ban me :ohdear: but they haven't done such thing.
Too harsh to disable an account, wouldn't be that hard to give them a ban on trading for a while/take items out of their backpacks and return the hats/items to the righteous owner, disabling entire accounts is just crossing the line.

this is why your account is disabled and you justified it thank you have a nice day
this is why your account is disabled and you justified it thank you have a nice day
Why would I scam people previously if I didn't enjoy it?
Why would I scam people previously if I didn't enjoy it?
Because you wanted to get your account disabled?
I doubt you got your account disabled anyway.
Incredibly fucking harsh.
Look, here's the proper punishment.
Offense 1: Remove all items from that person's backpack.
Offense 2: See offense 1, then make unable to trade.
It is a fucking stupid thing to do, scamming, but it shouldn't mean all your bought and paid for products should be forfeit, especially this early with the whole trading thing.

What the flying crap, what is this shit??
I've been one to seriously backup Valve in the past, heck I made a whole thread supporting the TF2 Store system, but this is retarded, disabling someones entire account for a scam, firstly you should have a warning and only get banned on a repeated offence and secondly the punishement should be much lighter i.e removing all your items or something along those lines.
That's the same punishement for hacking, hacking?! How does that even compare one is taking advantage of some stupid 5-year olds the other is getting an actual gameplay advantage and potentially ruining the game for other players.
I'm sorry but what?! That can't be right!

Too many neuf's in my list.
That's the same punishement for hacking, hacking?!
Not same, worse. VAC prevents you from playing one engine's worth of games on secure servers; disabling takes away all of your games, the ability to get future ones, and all account features.
I find it kind of odd that they've only trotted this method out for the scamming issue and booting up Steamstats three times after the Halocaust. Those are the absolute worst things that you can do on Steam?
What the hell
I didn't even do the paint scam.. I only asked for free boxes just because I bought like 7 keys that day. What the hell Valve
This is overdoing it for people who have spend so much money on their accounts.
So, wait, we got a disabled account because some idiot kiddos reported us (after an unfair trading)?
Yes.
Yeah, this punishment is way too serious. At the least, you should be banned from TF2. But your whole account is just too much.
This is so overdone. Permanently disabling accounts over virtual items?
You could easily go report a hundred people at random, and they could get blocked. This is insane.
Fucking cheaters get a lighter punishment than this.
I scammed some kid for 2 hats and i gave him the earbuds :ohdear:
You could easily go report a hundred people at random, and they could get blocked. This is insane.
There's probably trade records.
There's probably trade records.
Someone gives you some free shit.
Then someone reports you.
You're fucked.
Someone gives you some free shit.

Basically what you do in that kind of situation is force them to tell you that it's a gift. If they don't respond, cancel trade.
They didn't give you any warning, and once Valve did give a warning (to Facepunch, not all of Steam) they applied lighter punishments. The exact opposite of a deterance, just Valve being an asshole.
Where is the warning? i wish to see it
Its just Valve catering to the SPUF (arguably the worst TF2 community to date) once again.
facepunch is the worst tf2 community i have ever seen
