Shit graphics just take getting used to. Trying to go backwards in terms of graphics is difficult, but possible with a little time. Try playing Twisted Metal 3 after seeing black and you'll want to claw your eyes out, but eventually you start to ignore the graphics as you settle into the game itself. Same goes for Final Fantasy 8, which I played after Final Fantasy X, which I played after Kingdom Hearts, and that was like two years ago as I was watching FF 13 release
It's kinda hard to describe how the process works, but graphics are entirely relative to the immersion of the game as a whole. If you play through half the game and notice how shitty the graphics are, that's a fault in the game, not in the graphics.
I can play any game without even thinking about the graphics, unless they're amazing. then I'm like
"Holy crap how is my laptop RUNNING THIS?!"
Don't buy it.
Oh no, I am buying it. There's nothing stopping me. I don't care about the reviews, I don't care about the bandwagon of hatred, I'm certain it's still going to be a titty ogling alien killing blast that I'm going to love.
I just should've bought it today, instead of Deus Ex. I'll have to wait a bit now. :C
Get a load of this poor person trying to get free games.
Fuck, you've caught me.

I have to wait... I have to wait one more week for Duke Nukem Forever.
Fuckkkkk
Why?
Because I feel I play less scout and then the list shows me I'm wrong and bugs the crap out of me.
I can play any game without even thinking about the graphics, unless they're amazing. then I'm like

I admit that while playing Skyrim I've had to step back and take a moment because the game can be so breathtaking. Same goes for a handful of other games I've played. I do believe in such a thing as graphics that are better than real life.
I actually have a pretty badass looking rig
DNF is terrible tho
I don't know.
I found this part funny.

Hey, man, if the game is fun, I say go for it.
If anybody remembers Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, I remember playing the absolute loving shit out of that game, not because it was all that good, but because it was fun as hell. The sequel got worse reviews than the first one did, and I still loved it because I was able to deliver a boat to the helipad of an oilrig using a helicopter, get in the boat while still on top of the oilrig, and then nuke the whole goddamn thing and float away as it sank. There is SO much fun in blowing up oilrigs that you are on top of, in a boat. Give me boxes all you want, it's fun. Same goes for the old Destroy All Humans games.
There's a significant difference between makes a game "good" and what makes a game "fun." A game can be good and not be fun, and vice versa. A "good" game is what reviewers look for, stuff that is technically sound and by traditional game-design standards working properly. Fun is what is enjoyable and isn't something any reviewer can tell you, only what a player experiences.

Skyrim is an excellent example. Just walking along, looking to the side, and seeing this.

Absolutely beautiful. It really is. Bethesda knows their shit when it comes to making a beautiful atmosphere.
The problem Skyrim has is this.

Play this and see for how much time your eyes can resist, then you will figure how much modern graphics affected your mind.
I did a little test with this before.

Since this thread is in need of TF2, let's discuss what things make us want to play the game.
Whenever I watch Meet the Soldier, I always want to play Soldier afterwards in Goldrush.

I think it's ridiculous that the demo and scout were able to outrun a sentry.

Bethesda is good at world-building. If there's anything Bethesda can do right, it's create another dimension that is in every possible way, including geography, superior to our own.

That and the numerous times I've come across rocks missing half a model, instead just being transparent on one side or floating.

I think it's ridiculous that you can't pick up gibs and put them on fences.
You know you're in dire need of a brand-new rig when there exists games that run at 10FPS on the lowest possible settings.
That means every everything on lowest, 640-480, DXLevel 80, and FPS config'd.
GeForce 8400GS is a terrible Graphics card not meant for gaming and I have no idea why I bought it.
[sp]Although, it does run Obsidian Conflict on max settings at around 60FPS, which is jaw-dropping for me. Too bad no one plays Obsidian Conflict anymore.[/sp]

What can't run Obsidian Conflict on max?

For some reason... I can't stop playing Doom, I mean, I don't know why is very funny using only a shotgun shooting everything. Same for Doom II, only with the Double Shotgun. Sadly, I don't feel the same in Doom III.
