It's not creepy in the correct "way".
So what is the idea? Is it like if Zombie Fortress and Vs Saxton Hale had a beautiful baby (other team plays REAL monsters, other plays the mercenaries + arena-like no spawning/monster can spawn) or is it just modified Vs Saxton Hale where one player is selected to play as one of those monstrosities?
No, do not rate me dumb for my ignorance. Answer my question.
I don't think I'm allowed to reveal all the specifics yet, but it's derived from Arena

They look like Alice characters. I will follow this mod because TF2 needs a new gamemode like this one to get better.
You guys have probably already seen these (and maybe been inspired by them) but R33MIX's videos have a lot of stuff in them that I think would fit perfectly in this gamemode. especially the scouts at 0:30.

This one's also good.

That's source film maker, it's not going to be easy animating them to be exactly alike.

That's less creepy and more stupid

well then how about the slenderman? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecIHgR-GNLI
should add Freddy Spy
should add Freddy Spy
Dare I say it, the Freddy Spy simply isn't nightmarish enough compared to the other bosses.
This looks sweet, could you guys use a mapper? I'd love to make a haunted house/tower for this.
Here's my latest map for an example of my work if necessary: http://forums.tf2maps.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=4948
PM me on FP, Steam, or something.

He's just in a corner while stereotypically creepy music plays
how is that creepy

i'm talking about slenderman at the end you know this guy http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lcijtpaS741qdbn5bo1_400.jpg

Slenderman is an interesting character, but I'd have have to say nay.
i'm talking about slenderman at the end you know this guy http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lcijtpaS741qdbn5bo1_400.jpg
But Slenderman is a "slow burn," slightly psychological type of horror. You see him occasionally, then weird shit happens, then you start seeing him more often/clearer and shit gets weirder and repeat until everything is dead, crazy, or crazydead.
What's he going to do in a gamemode where he's supposed to be an immediate threat? Is he going to run around and punch people? Is he still going to be scary when you find out that he can be taken down with a shotgun, like any other creature?
maybe some of these then? http://media.moddb.com/images/games/1/13/12018/kf_xmas_charactersheet_gorefast.jpg or this http://www.kf-wiki.com/images/c/c4/ScrakeFrost.png
and this of course http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/4215/27694358.jpg
and then this http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/351/a/4/kf_nutpound_by_atagene-d352kew.png
I also really like this concept http://www.warhammer39999.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/SantaClaws.jpg
Heres another pic or a good one http://www.geeksix.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/kf_xmas_charactersheet_nutpound-400x400.jpg
I myself would rather see the monsters as things that could go horribly wrong in the tf2 universe, such as that snowman or uberblob instead of just memes and models that were ported from other games.
If you're gonna do memes, reinvent them. Make them actually scary and not just OH WOW THAT'S SO WEIRD HAHA.
Imagine.
An engineer.
Dead as a door nail.
he's still coming.
The headset and hand wasn't enough.
he's still coming.
He created a full suit and mechanical armor to control.
he's still coming.
he's dead. the suit controls him.
it's alive.
and
it
can't
die.
it's still coming.
Maybe a engineer corpse wearing an exoskeleton, who keep moving because of it?
I though that the idea couldn't work but that makes me think otherwise.
Alright, I got a few (hopefully good) ideas for monsters. I'll draw some concepts soon.
Just slap some sentry parts on the engineers and there you go :v:
What do you think about a monster made of gibs from every class?

And the suit should look really rusty, old, and almost organic in how it grew over him
What ever you do, make the monsters from scrap. No slender spy or demothman. Be original.
this is why i said this is not a thread for people to submit their ideas
sorry :v:

excellent concept, but sadly that won't work with the amount of resources we have

Similar to how Aperture was overgrown a bit in Portal 2?
I think the maps for this should be made to resemble normal TF2 maps from a glance (Though probably always at night or a foggy atmosphere.) but on a closer inspection, things just look wrong.
For example, hints that everyone who lived in the map before the monsters came all inexplicably vanished at the same time (Weapons and hats strewn everywhere, full meals on tables left untouched etc.), barricades made from desk and file cabinets and such blocking doorways, rooms somehow flipped to it's side or upside down, or a single room that's rusted and overgrown with plants while the rest of the place is somewhat clean, or scorch marks showing silhouettes of mercenaries, all monitors showing "please stand by" images or static etc.

that was actually the initial concept, but sadly, there's one big technical limitation: we're pretty much limited to wide open arenas because of the control we've got over AI.
