The most I got was like 8 hats, crafted some of them.
Atm I got 4 hats, 2 of which are favorite ones for 2 different class.
To people saying he's lucky... just check the Steam forums, trade for VALUE rather than particular hats, and instantly jump on any in-game great trades (1 reclaimed for a brain slug, 1 spy knife for a beret, 1 degreaser for a fedora are some in-game trades I've gotten).
I went from 7 crappy hats to 32 good hats, without buying anything for myself (the only thing I've bought were Secret Saxtons). I could have had a ton more by now, but I personally only trade for vintage hats.
Trade for medic mask every chance you get, as it sells for 2 or 3 hats every time. Always trade for Hound Dog, Hustler's Hallmark, etc. Then sell these hats on Steam forum for the best offer.
If you're the first person to do this, you should get like a special item or something.
