I think the visual design is still important since if its going to be added ingame the first thing players are going to see is a promotional image of the weapon in the TF blog or somewhere else and they won't be able to try it yet, at first I guess people do pick weapons for the visuals but after a while the community starts to get a general idea of if the weapon stats are worth* using said item. As far as making weapons its definetly a bigger "bet" as to is it going to get ingame? how Valve could use this item in terms of stats and how it would work probably weights more on the decision to pick it versus the visual design. But hats and misc are of course all about visuals and story telling.

There is a theme, its hard NOT to make an explosion based set for the demoman :v: he's all about explosions, meet the demoman. Also no more damn swords for the demoman, we're not making a freaking sword :v:

But there's no reason they should conflict anyway. They're different regions, so it's a bug Valve will have to fix unless they accept my equip region changes (which they haven't mentioned at all) Edit, found out what it was Awhile back they optimized the equip regions by grouping them. They stuck both the Demoman Grenades and Demoman Hip in the same group, meaning they conflict (because they're treated as the same region pretty much) This is fixed in my schema
