Went with the Design cuntsman suggested
Now it's time to refine/sort out this version. then do the same for the leopard print.

I think regardless of language linking your item on someone else's has pretty clear intent

The green thing on the red version should be red, IMO. Other than that, it's perfect.
EDIT: Scratch that. The green looks nice, actually.

In home-made items they make sense. In normal weapons, it makes the item more interesting sometimes, but not really if the item is already well designed without them

no, gimmick is kind of the opposite, it's some silly thing that's not usually done that is cool but doesn't really add to the artistic value. Though I suppose after a while, gimmicks can become cliches.
I once asked SPUF this, and they actually liked a balance between gimmicky items (like the Soda Popper, Axtinguisher, etc) and "normal" weapons (like the Flaregun, Shortstop, Huntsman, etc)
And I have to say I agree with them. I think we're tipping a little too much in the realm of gimmicky right now, but there's a lot of nice "normal" weapons (and even a few sets) on the Workshop, so I'm sure the balance will shift back.
