you know iv'e always been curious. how does valve handle the textures on ubered items like hats and such do they just overlay a huge vmt/vtf on them when the instance is triggered?
I actually don't know whatever they do, it works no matter how the VMT is set up because even the absolute crappiest VMT I could find, that weapon still ubers (the halloween weapons have lulz vmts, and the sharp dresser admits right in the file that it was copied from some link) I kind of wish they'd use the same technology for crit-boost instead of relying on painting the weapon and doing a self-illum boost. It would make it so these non-crit boosted items would work 100% of the time, and also make it so the Mangler could (mini crit) glow.
It replaces the texture completely with a different VMT for ubers, temporarily

Got some basic textures started. The glasses frames and tag are currently paintable. Good to go? BTW, the final polycount is now 1050, so will def need at least one LOD. Also, the tag is jiggleboned (obviously).
