Valve still hasn't paid me, either. It's partly explainable by the fact that I haven't made any items for them, but still. Bunch of assholes.
Oh, and as I've already made a post.. Is there any convenient way to work with func_details? I've heard that pro mappers just func_detail everything by habit. However, I have a tendency to want to do stuff with the stuff I've made, continuously. Tiny adjustments, copying convenient brushes, etcetera. If I func_detail stuff, I have to break and reassemble all of it every time I want to do something, which is pretty inconvenient.
Right now I group most stuff I build, to make the eventual func_detail makeover more convenient. However, this means I have a fuckbunch of tiny unfuncy brushes everywhere, which (I guess) is the cause of the eternal compile times I get if I try to run with VIS enabled. Always running with VIS disabled feels like a bad thing to do.
the problem is, the minute they add a new head or lens item it'll take months if ever to have the model updated.

Could you not just tweak it and make the lens transparent so that the misc underneath
is viewable. I think it would make it look 100x better. but thats just me :)

Yeah, it is. However, tying every single brush I make to an entity gets pretty inconvenient, and if I tie a bunch of brushes to one and then have to break them up, I have to select each of them individually to tie them together again.
Hm, on second thought, making all brushes individual func_details may actually be a good idea. Since I create a lot of my brushes by shift-dragging other conveniently placed ones, I'd get a bunch of brushes funcy by default.
