@ironman17 I love you.
Aww bless, cheers.
Dogstuff
Who gives two shits about peta? We already have dogs in call of dumbass, and nobody's crying over that. For the dog itself though, I'm not sure I like it that much. If we are to summon NPCs, I want lemonade's dragon to be summoneable.
If we are to summon NPCs, I want lemonade's dragon to be summoneable.
A DRAGON?! Link me to this so-called "lemonade's dragon", so that I may make proper judgements.
-guarddog-
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think it'd be a feasible addition no matter what way you slice it. This is a multiplayer game, as such, players should and are in complete control over what their character does unless acted upon by an outside force, but they still retain basic control of their character. Sentry AI is fickle because it is not player controlled (sans Wrangler) and is fully automated. However, it is completely predictable and has never-changing rules to its workings; it will always target the nearest enemy that is visible to it. Because it is, for the most part, stationary, it is workable to the point where it cannot possibly frustrate the player who created it. The problem with introducing movement AI into this is that it would be able to independently wander where you might not want it to. Without adding an additional layer of control to the UI and GUI (which isn't as easy as it sounds), any roaming automation can easily do things you would not want it to do -- look at bots, they aren't exactly rocket scientists and they certainly don't understand written English. The fact of the matter is that unless it's stationary, it'll be difficult to make feasible without potentially frustrating the player who spawned it.

GENTLEMEN.
57.18% downloading ./orangebox/tf/resource/modevents.res Is this new? I don't remember this existing. "raid_spawn_mob" { } "raid_spawn_squad" { } This appears to be in the file, i'll see if I can find more.
Raid Mode will have mobs.

This is what this thread's supposed to be. A lot of the time I'm mentioning things to my friends that some have heard and some haven't. It's best to get it all together in one thread than spread out.
I love how I see this certain person on SPUF all the time who keeps on saying "it's a rumor". How can you be that stupid? There has been proof already, what else he needs?
If only there could be only one person that stupid on SPUF.
Steam Trading has gone out of beta. No big update for TF2 yet.
Apparently an upcoming Spy and Engineer set of Grordbort packs? http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2072589
so, anyone take a look at the scout animations recently, i found this while working on some zombification. the animation is called taunt_highfive_start and its only a second or two long (dont wanna leave the scout hangin right?) maybe valve is getting closer to releasing those unused high five taunts, but so far the scout is the only one with this animation.

Y'know, i've thought of a sort of new Spy Watch oriented towards the Disguise. Basically, instead of Cloaking it generates a sort of "shield" that absorbs a set amount of damage, doesn't set off any on-hit effects, renders the user immune to special effects (Bleed, Afterburn, Death-Mark, etc), and disables Spy flinching, thus allowing the Spy to maintain his Disguise. However, as well as being unable to turn invisible, the Spy is also vulnerable to liquids such as water, Jarate or Milk; moisture will short-out the Shield and remove the disguise, meaning that Spies should be wary of all liquids. Combine this with a "blank-fire" gun, which does less damage but can be "bluff shot" to emulate the functions of the gun of the class you are disguised as, and the weapons would make Disguises even more convincing. Also, how about a Medigun that charges it's special not by healing, but by the patient dealing damage, kind of like a Buff Banner Medigun?
I like the idea of having a weapon for the Spy that imitates the fire action of the class he's disguised as. Maybe with a damage downside, and it imitates the attack through right c-no wait. I dunno.

Also, the Medigun is a bad idea, it heavily promotes pocketing.
They're not getting closer to it; in fact I almost wonder why these are still in the game, I mean what a waste of precious space.
I never saw the _start ones before O.o
They're not getting closer to it; in fact I almost wonder why these are still in the game, I mean what a waste of precious space.
Because some servers use them in plugins.
Because some servers use them in plugins.
In that logic, there should be official support for premium servers.
In that logic, there should be official support for premium servers.
Do premium servers use anything that's in the game files that are unused? No.
Or maybe they're in because it'd be a pain in the ass to just remove them for the public release?
Do premium servers use anything that's in the game files that are unused? No.
Yes they do. And if you don't know that, it means that you've never been on a private server. And that is a good thing. They use additional models, announcer sounds and custom particles.
Custom particles and additional models aren't unused content left ingame by Valve.
That is exactly what I was saying. Jetamo was saying that premium servers didn't use additionnal content and I say that some of their additionnal stuff was not unused stuff. You should re-read posts you don't get before rating people dumb.
Any news about some REAL update? I mean, the Deus Ex update was cool, but still, only promo items, It's been more than two months since the Über Update and I'm getting worried. Yeah, I know, maybe getting ready for all the Portal 2 stuff incoming.
A while ago, someone (I think it was ned_ballad, can't remember) e-mailed someone at Valve (can't remember, probably Robin) about major updates, and they said they had something planned for each month up to and including October. August had the Deus Ex stuff, October has Halloween, so September must have a major update. I'm predicting that it might be a MannConoVersary.

The information about upcoming content additions were seen at a passing glance of a whiteboard.
