over time the community updates have been bigger in content it seems.

Halloween last year was coming off of a billion new items and the creation of the store. I think they were playing it really conservative that year because of how shook up the community already was.
This year however everything is settled, the Manniversary was small (hats and weapons wise) and we're eager for lots of new weapons and hats (and especially misc items).
Alright, I got my Sour Cream and Onion chips ready for tonight.

one thing that concerns me though is the lack of a HLDS email. It seemed Tony was conditioning the HLDS to send out an email the day of the update, and since no email has yet to come out, I don't know.
It just seems so obviously tonight, but it's tough to say since there's evidence going both ways. I'm confident it's tonight, but there could be some serious doubt about it.

Still early in the day, maybe they're just late getting the e-mails out.
It's bizarre that I'm actually more excited that the TF2 canon is going to be expanded than getting new hats/weapons.
