I am aware that this post will be rated dumb to Oblivion. With that in mind, I'll post it anyway:
I can't wait for Meet the Pyro. Personally, I think Pyro is a middle-aged nerdy guy, based on his taunts, which Reference Star Wars and Street Fighter. Also his goggles kind of look like big glasses.
Why he sets people on fire is anyone's guess. It could be because he's been bullied all his life and the only way he exacts his nerd rage is through FIRE. He obviously cares about his teammates and is not so in love with fire that he loves watching his teammates burn, so he airblasts them when they're burning.
As for him wearing women's clothing, maybe he likes wearing women's clothes. Maybe thats the reason he's been bullied all his life. This game takes place in the late 60s, so it wasn't a time where people were more tolerant of that kind of stuff. Soldier and Engineer for example have called the enemy ladies on occasion.
And with all that in mind, I think he looks like this under the mask.

Pyro can't reference those because they don't exist yet.

That's how the Pyro looked like before it got a mask. The keyword is ugly as sin.

Soldier can't use laser weapons because they didn't exist yet.

Did and one else just get a 17MB update?

I hope that the pyro is an ecto-plasmic being like that german guy from hellboy.
The shotgun helps at close range, improving the speciality of the Pyro. The Flaregun helps at long range, and the not so rare 90 crit is very helpful at finishing off opponents.
there's one thing that i love to do with flaregun pyros
watch for the flare coming, don't move, do a small sidestep right before it hits. repeat 4 or 5 times. it has succeeded in the pyro insulting me over chat several times :v:
Personally, I still think Pyro is female. Not because "lol fandom", but because it would add more of a twist to the whole nine male hired mercenaries fighting for each family company. Also, more background on the companies and each class - just like back when the Engineer Update came out where we got direct information on who the Engineer actually was! It was really interesting and I was hoping for the same thing at the Über Update, especially with all that concept art that we were shown before the update was released. Was disappointed when all we got to know was that Medic have something to do with doves...
Pyro can't reference those because they don't exist yet.
Yeah, since Street Fighter isn't out at the time, they would never really be able to reference it. I mean how would they get away with tha-

The ambiguity of the character is the appeal. To me, his real face is the gas mask he wears.

You couldn't have said that in a more artistic way, well played. :golfclap:
I agree. TF2's concept art is canon.

Demoman for example is not really black.
He is a Scottish Cyclops from the get-go. Then they made it black.
Tonight's the Night. For Sure
Tonight's the Night. For Sure
I hope so, I took a nap and hoped to awaken to a blog post/thread and items to craft.
Nope.
30 days, 18 hours is the night
30 days, 18 hours is the night
I don't get this theory. Last year they did a Halloween update and the Mannco update, each within a month of eachother. When Ceiling Man visited valve he said that they had something planned for every month up to November. Now, we haven't had anything BIG this month. Only the PCG hat.
I honestly think it's coming today. :/
30 days, 18 hours is the night
I agree and sort of disagree. If they're gonna release a major update with lots of concent, do it on Halloween, but my inner hoarder says that I want more hats and new stuff now.
Then again, too much content can also be too much for some players, but I guess that's why they split up major updates into days.
Ah, but you are forgetting the Steam trading! Surely it counts, so it lowers the chances of an update by multiple percent.
It wasn't an update to TF2, it was an update to all of Steam.
That, and it introduced no new content in TF2 at all, not even a Steam Trader hat of any sort.
[editline]30th September 2011[/editline]
And it doesn't appear in the Now Featuring at the side of tf2.com
Steam trading didn't help the F2P model at all, I doubt it was the big update for this month.
This reminds me of the actual Mannconomy update itself. Valve said it was coming in September, and sure enough, they waiting until the dead last day to ship the update, but it was still technically in September.
Tonights the night. Its Friday, they will have to do something.

Hopefully they're doing something.
You're all wishful thinkers

Whenever someone goes TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, i can't help but hear it in Dexter's voice. Why is this?
On-topic, it's gotta be tonight. It's one year since the Mann-conomy, there was an STS leak with a whole bunch of new stuff (nothing halloween related at that, besides the Flamenco Pyro) and they did this last year with the same updates.
I will be honestly shocked if nothing happens tonight.

Do they usually update on Fridays? I know it can be on any weekday, but they usually only update on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Not to mention an update this big probably warrants a daily blog post counting down to the release.
Don't get me wrong-- I hope you're right, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
it was way more than an STS leak, the items were added to the list of items that exist in the game. For a brief minute, everything was coded to be in the game, it just required the models to exist.
However, I don't even think that Schema leak was completed. There's too many back changes in the pipeline we know about that weren't there, and it would seem Valve is ready to ship at least 2 of them (Garden Pyro and Psyke's paint fixes).

Christmas update was on a Friday

Christmas update was on a Friday
What about Daimao's paint fixes? He submitted those month's ago not to mention he submitted stuff I made a few weeks ago.
I don't know, maybe?
He never mentioned if he got an email or not. They could have included some of his fixes, but we don't know.
I have a good hunch they did (from some stuff a contributor mentioned awhile ago on the Wiki), but nothing concrete unless he wants to confirm anything.
Murphy's law, by the time an update is released in England I'll be getting a good nights sleep for the job I work one day a week. (Saturdays.)
CURSE YOU JOB.
ned_ballad, can I just say how much I love you? You really know how to get me excited about TF2, whether it's through your strict schema-watching or just your skill of building excitement for something that's entirely possible to be nothing.
