I would like to hear this actually if you can keep it semi-brief.
For the sake of brevity, I'll just quote myself from another discussion on the same subject; note that, in the quotes, I'm addressing the topic creator:
Valve made it pretty clear a while back that they don't want to give the Demoman any more "fire and forget" weapons like your proposed weapon. It may seem balanced on paper, but it'll either be horrible powerful or weak depending on semantics. It takes away all ability to deal damage from the Demoman and places it on his enemies; he'll only do as well as how gullible his enemies are.

You're missing the point: it'd take away the skill from the Demoman and place it instead on his enemies.
That's not an engaging FPS experience for either party. That's not even fun. Different playstyles require active participation on the Demoman's part, making a fire-&-forget weapon removes that.

It takes away the interaction between Demoman and explosive once it's been placed. It's not that much fun, regardless of how effective or ineffective it may be. You could try to argue that the Grenade Launcher is that way too, but the Grenade Launcher must be actively used or it'd become useless with pipes exploding and doing nothing, this tripmine that you suggest is simply place and wait. Trust me, it's not that much fun to not be in control of your own weapon aside from location.
The enthusiasm to give him more demolition weapons is great, but this is not the sort of weapon that I'd support being added. It'd be powerful at the lowest skill echelon and completely worthless at average and above skill echelons. Placing the fate of the projectile in your opponent's hands does that to a weapon: they learn to adapt and make your item a wasted slot. It'd be like the Pyro or Spy: amazing against low-skill players who don't know what to do and weak against people who know what's up.
What are these specialty leaks?
We know nothing other than A. it's a gamemode and B. Specialty is the name.
Speciality is not going to be a gamemode, it's just the name of the category that groups Medieval, Event (Halloween) and Raid
But raid... what is it?!
Boss mode? Actually raiding someone's base? Alien invasions?
I do hop Raid mode is actually gonna come soon...
I expect the Medieval Update to be officialy released, soon
that would be too awesome.
even for Valve.

Since Medieval and Event are basically CP gamemodes with a little twist (Medieval has a weapon restriction, while Event has a neutral boss: either the Harvest ghost, if we consider it a "boss", or the Mann Manor Horsemann), I'm gonna guess Raid is gonna be a CP variation too

I got told repeatedly by a friend inside the STS, is that a valid source?
You just got added to the OP.

I doubt it's another CP variation. Raid sounds like a Payload variation than anything.

Payload is a CP variation, though :v:

Welp! You're sort of right. Nevermind my post then.

Not a valid source, STS translators only know the name of the mode, as they saw the strings. The details are unknown unless Valve released a string describing the mode, which they did not.
I expect the Medieval Update to be officialy released, soon
I REALLY hope it is. Seems like something Valve would do aswell.
The Medieval Update will probably be released eventually, but in a supremely condensed form. I wouldn't expect more than 1 or 2 item sets and a few miscellaneous others. It's an entirely different ball game from the Fancy vs Nasty pack which was a nice neat consistent pack containing mainly hats. Medieval however has wildly varying degrees of quality in its items, and those items are also primarily weapons. Weapons are much harder to add to the game because they need stats and playtesting, whereas you can just do a quick technical test of a hat and throw it in. Another factor is that Valve work by metrics, weighing up the pros and cons of things. Is it worth them spending time doing the gruelling task of going through and adding items which benefit a game "mode" that the large majority of the community don't play or care for? Or should they instead spend time working on making something more exciting for the community as a whole?
I'd love them to fix medeival mode, AKA outlawing certain weapons (Half zaitochi for one) and adding more maps.
Raid mode where you get melee weapons only, and your team has to defeat a boss before the other team does.
With a little metre at the top of the screen showing both of the bosses' health bars for each team.
[editline]14th August 2011[/editline]
Oh and at the end of a round, there's a roll for a hat drop for the winning team.
Raid Mode=Saxton Hale Mode

I always imagined Raid mode like that, or Something like CTF with only one intel, and a boss who starts to attack the team who takes the intel
No, that's not the name of the hat I'm thinking of :v:
It seems to suit you though.

yeah my dad works at valve and he showed me all 26 of the new soldier weapons but i forgot to take screenshots sorry
Enough with the fucking soldier weapon jokes already, we get it, engineer has very few weapons and soldier is easy to design for.

If I saw that ingame I'd probably shit myself.
Also his hands look like tree stumps.

Nope.
Shenanigans aside its possible there might be another major update sometime before the Halloween looking back at the major update history and comparing the dates. If not at least we know they will do a Halloween one, least I hope so.
I'm imagining Raid Mode being where there's a bomb is placed somewhere on the map, and if someone goes over it they pick it up but can't use weapons, while their teammates protect them. Then they must take it to the opposite teams base and blow it up.
