they're going to do a Halloween update You have to remember this year, there are thousands of fresh new, F2P users who have never experienced the joy of a TF2 Halloween. Valve is going to want to make this one huge so the new F2Pers will know just how awesome TF2 Halloween can get. This will also be the first "major" update F2P players will experience. This is going to be big.
And now introducing..... THE HAUNTED MANN-O-WEEN CRATE Which could contain one of over 30 POSSIBLE HATS IN ONE CRATE. The HAUNTED MANN-O-WEEN CRATE can only be opened with the SKELETON KEY, which costs only $3.95 in the Mann Co Store! That price is outrageous, but F2Pers have no qualms with buying things from the store as the Summer Update has demonstrated. Grand total of new weapons: 3. All reskins of existing weapons. One of them is achievement only.

but if they buy a key, then they aren't F2P players anymore they're just... players. Oh, and I absolutely believe we will have a Halloween crate. Probably a coffin or something.

It would be like a real explosion that destroyed the internet.
You know, I don't mind reskins of weapons if everyone can get them, Just allows more good Modelers to get there stuff in or fit someone style more. i'd like to see reskins of the pistol that use the commander model from the emporium or The compensator reskin for the Machina, Stuff like that.

While it is still a great thing to have something accepted, they'd feel underwhelmed to find that their item is something that people already have, essentially.
Hey ! I'm not F2P and yet I've never lived a halloween update before. :<
They are awesome.
They are awesome.
Yep. I hope this halloween it will be better. I barely managed to get 6 masks in over 80 hours...
I didn't get any masks. Everyone else always got to the presents first.
Hey ! I'm not F2P and yet I've never lived a halloween update before. :<
Oh man. boss fights, haunted mansions and random gift boxes that everyone fights for. Its a great thing to experience.
I always got Sniper and Scout masks and had to trade for the other ones.
I remembered me and my friend spent all night for a few weeks harvesting as many masks as possible and selling them off. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Great success.
I remember giving my hats for masks because I did not play much back then
I remeber not knowing TF2 back then.
Hey ! I'm not F2P and yet I've never lived a halloween update before. :<
I started playing TF2 in the WAR! update and then stopped playing as my life got catched by the Garry Flu. So, I never started playing "fully" before the Uber update. So, yeah. I've never fully experienced a halloween update before. However, I have memories of getting the gibus near one of the updates.
If I could, I would turn TF2 back to 3 years ago. For me, 2008 was the year for Team Fortress 2. Some of my most cherished memories with TF2 are from then.
I didn't even start playing until a month before the Scout update. I think I joined the day after Dispensers could be upgraded. That year was pretty amazing as far as updates go. Scout was meh, but then you had the awesome Sniper v Spy, then the Classless, then you had the WAR update, so it was a pretty good year all together.
On the 119th Update page, the date of this update is incorrectly stated as January 7, 2009.
http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/December_11,_2008_Patch which is why I was confused. My badge says I started January 10th, 2009

For me, that really ended with Scream Fortress, which ushered in the bronze age that we have now. Hands down, Golden and Silver age were the best times to be playing Team Fortress 2. The game has changed a lot since then, it's taken on a new feel. But it's still a good game.
Golden Age should be the period from Sniper vs Spy to WAR!
SMG Sniper age is Uber Update - Present. I signed up around mid October 2010, right before Scream Fortress. What age would that be?
Golden Age should be the period from Sniper vs Spy to WAR!
yep, that was a hellofa good year of updates. When the Scout update is the worse part of that year, you know you had a good year of updates. And in that year they also fixed most of the problems with the Scout update anyway!
SMG Sniper age is Uber Update - Present.
The Machina has reinvented the SMG for me. Using the Machina almost exclusively, I have grown to appreciate the SMG a bit more.
