Was it you, or Keychain with the amazing gradient HUD?
You both have anime avatars, so I get you two confused at times.
Dammit, I sound ignorant now. :ohdear:
You mean the wood hud? Yeah thats me. :v:
[img_thumb]http://kite.reager.org/ctf_well0000.png[/img_thumb]
Some few skin modifications and autoexc.
I just have a skin to replace the fugly Ambassador with the Hand-cannon. Nothing else.

Wood gradient is still a gradient, go look into design more.
Also ninja reply.

Really? Does that still work? I haven't updated it since they added failure animations.

yes but im sure he would've said wood or something cuz i mean c'mon thats what someone to say to describe your HUD
'wood'
I've only got two small skins: ambassador reskin (that makes it look nice and golden :3:) and one that gives the spy sunglasses with his fedora so he looks badass.
Other than those small niceities, I hate modding my source games. The original materials are always nice, so there's no reason to change them.
I only use mods that "fix" game content, like the 4-slot grenade launcher and the updated invulin skins. I also use Shugo's icon pack.
At the Wood vs. Gradient contest
This game's winner is:
KeyChain!
Leaf Runner PM'd me the source, so it's all good now.
Reag gets a consolation prize, for reminding me of that also awesome wood HUD!
I usually use a custom hud and prec, and made sure that the ingame settings were satisfactory. I also use a bunch of launch options:
-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -novid -noborder -windowed
try the last two out, it makes alt tabbing extremely comfortable and painless, if you have not already.
-novid obviously enough gets rid of the valve intro.
the three commands before -novid deal with disabling various mouse acceleration types.
Generally I would recommend using the whole thing.
I've re-skinned just about every weapon in the game, the normal valve skins just look dull to me.
I also use some custom models on occasion (Like Ayes' Femscout) but only when I know I'm not going to visit any sv_pure servers.

Personally I find TF2 to be extremely pretty as it is, especially with my recent ability to run it on the highest settings possible.
Although I do like a few weapon reskins that I may use later, such as this one:

only things that fix inconsistencies
and a custom cfg.

and some mods that fit into the style
Some config changes, some custom UI elements (like additional helpful text, fixed up icons, NOT a custom HUD; those are stupid), a few edited model materials (mostly just updated stuff that Valve didn't), some weapon modifications to make life easier (like grenade launcher switched to primary so the loadout quickswitch works properly), and low violence mode (I like it better, sue me).
And of course a few super secret mods that are currently in development. :ssh:

I respectfully disagree, some custom HUDs are extremely comfortable for various purposes.

It's all personal taste.
I just prefer custom weaponry with the weird designs and whatnot.

The only HUD tweaks I approve of are numerical health bars on targetIDs, extended death notifications, and MAYBE moving targetIDs a bit lower. Otherwise huge overhaul HUDs like "competitive" ones that smash everything into the center are stupid and unintuitive. They improve nothing and only serve to make you less attuned to your peripheral vision.

I mostly meant precisely what you were labeling as "useful", possibly a hair further then your description.
At the moment I am using a vanilla hud due to the recent update, perhaps I will change my mind by experimenting with adding elements to the original one like you are.

I would appreciate if you told us more detail about your inconsistency fixes and the .cfg if possible, out of curiosity.

I don't know off the top of my head; it takes a bit of fiddling. There are several fairly recent HUDs on FPSB that do this; take those apart and find out.
I got a custom window icon I made, and a somewhat big autoexec.

Oh hey, I have that too.
-snip people raged over words in my post being similar to another-
Some materials and models that offer variance but keep the TF2 style, and cfg folder full of scripts for every class.

Good to know I wasn't the only one who noticed it. :v:
