• Drop stats: Week 2+3

I started playing some more a few days ago. Over a week I got 2 drops. And I still haven't found a single hat T_T
This still doesn't explain why I got 15 items the first week, 3 the next and 1 this week.
I had 4 on the first week and 8 on this week
Huh. I've gotten diddly squat so far. And last week I got around 3 or 4 (Don't remember). 6 just doesn't seem right.
1 week=6 drops 1 month=4 weeks=24 drops 3 months=12 weeks=72 drops 3 months 2 weeks=14 weeks=84 drops GJ Valve, around 3,5 month to craft a hat.
What the fuck. I've got like 1100 hours of tf2 and I got my 2nd hat yesterday.
Because out of my ~5800 hours, over 5000 of them were after they boosted the hat drop rate [~ September 2nd 2009 ] You have to think of how many of your 1100 hours were since hats were introduced, and how many from when the drop rate for hats was increased.
This still doesn't explain why I got 15 items the first week, 3 the next and 1 this week.
First week was actually worth 2 weeks. Tuesday - New drop system with 1 week's allowance in drops. Wednesday - Continue using the 1 week allowance Thursday - New week starts That's why people thought there was a daily cap, because everyone stopped getting drops after 6~10 drops, and then starting getting more on the next day [Thursday]. It was because Thursday after the new drop system was a new week.
If they make the max hour and bump it up to 60 hours or so, that'd prevent SOME idling, there will be some, but then there will be the players that actually PLAY that are getting items the more they play.
Yes because we should be able to craft a hat once a week.
It currently takes 2 weeks to craft 1 item. Forget about hats I want crit-a-cola.
Well, technically you might not even get the right drops for correctly crafting a new hat, so it could be about 4 months. And you might also get a crappy hat in that time as well.
I just crafted Crit-a-cola yesterday :) Anyway, back on topic. Valve has to fix this for "real" at some point. It's getting annoying. After about 4 hours of play yesterday i only got 1 single item.
It's the same as it was. People can still get unlucky and get 3 drops a week or be really lucky and have 10+ and hats. Only exceptions is this god awful cap and the new rule 'the less you play, the more you can idle later'. This new system is bullshit.
I think they should go with an incremental system. I can't remember where I saw this idea but it was excellent. What you do is keep the normal drop rate (obviously the current system rolls for when you will get a weapon instead of rolling at intervals to see if you get a drop), but each hour without a drop it increments by a certain amount say 2.5% chance for weapons to a maximum increment amount say 10% this means that if you don't get a weapon every hour your chance of getting one increases, this avoids the still constant unlucky streaks. Once you get a weapon the increment will completely reset. You then use a seperate increment for hats (as they're more rare) say 0.05% per hour up to a maxium of 0.5% in total. I'm unsure about decent percentages but you can see where I'm going with this, this is a great system as it will work perfectly alongside the current system but once more cut down those unlucky streaks, IMO Valve needs to increase the weekly cap and if they were to implement this system and raise the cap they should probably think about reducing the chances of drops slightly as introducing this system and raising the weekly cap may result in far to many drops. The great thing about this system is like the current system it doesn't help idlers an incremental system means idlers are just as likely to benefit as people playing. People that are lucky likely won't benefit that much as there chances won't increase, but those that miss a weapon drop will only encounter more drops meaning a fairer system. I don't agree with people who think the drop rate is silly and want more drops, the idea of hats and drops is that they're supposed to be RARE! If everyone had a hat it would be pretty pointless to have one. All this system will do is reduce unlucky streaks which I am far to familair with, as I'm so unlucky, not a hat in 1200 hours (no idling seriously) of total play time and everytime I play I notice players get great drops with the new system like randomly get four drops at once I find it hard to get just one.
It can't be 6 drops per week. I had 15 items last week (13 items in 3 hours of idling), and stopped getting items after the 15th drop(normal play). This week, I've gotten a total of 9 items so far. No idling...yet.
I don't think it is six drops a week but all the stats point to it. This is why we need a incremental system implemented as everyone experiences different drop rates some who are so lucky and get 15 items a week while people like me who play a lot only see 3 a week. The cap also needs to be raised.
They should seriously bump up the cap, I play TF2 more than one hour a day :v: I know TF2 has a casual side to it but this is getting ridiculous. Heck, if I was a coder at Valve, I'd consider lowering the interval between drops even more (5 - 45 minutes) and upping the weekly cap to 50 items (daily cap being 12)
You should really label what the x and y axis are. I have no idea what those numbers are representing.
You should really label what the x and y axis are. I have no idea what those numbers are representing.
x - horizontal , y - vertical amount of drops , amount of hours
I'm getting way more drops than I did before. I play less than an hour a day though so I guess that's why.
x - horizontal , y - vertical amount of drops , amount of hours
Thank you.
i got 1 razerback so far
I think it's fucked, I got my Hallmark without playing. Really. I was playing one day. Nothing. So, later that week I haven't played at all. I go to tf2items.com, and whammo! I found a Hallmark without playing
someone needs to send this to valve.
I've got fuckall for over a week. Regular intervals my arse.
I've been getting a shit load of drops recently, including a drop of Scrap Metal, which I didn't even think was possible. I've gotten a level 3, a level 2, and a level one metal so far and I still have almost every weapon for every class, I don't craft things unless I've got an excess of them.
My chances of a direct hit are slim now :<
6 drops per week? That's bullshit.
6 a week is way better than I used to get. With the old system, the only way you could consistently get more than 6 per week was by idling. No one played TF2 enough to get that many normally. This new system means that people like me - who don't get to play every day but usually play for 2 or 3 hour sessions - get more drops than they used to, while people who idle are wasting almost all of their time. I've gotten more drops with the new system in a week than I got in a month with the old system. Thus, I like it.
I dunno I kind of liked the old system better. I hate the feeling of being cutoff from finding items, it almost feels like time wasted while playing like I've played too much. I've been hitting my cap in like 1 or 2 days.
What the fuck. I've got like 1100 hours of tf2 and I got my 2nd hat yesterday.
You my friend have shit luck.

Yeash, maybe i idled, BUT IT DIDN'T TOOK ME 4 MONTHS TO GET ENOUGH STUFF FOR A HAT. the cap is just pure bullshit. IMO cap should be removed. people who whinned about idlers got shitdrops, 1 peer week commonly, BECAUSE THEY ARE CASUALS. in my idling sessions, i've got +50 drtps per week, only idling 8 hours per day. New system is shit, 2/10 people likes it, if not; prove me wrong. (steam forums won't count as people who likes it, its filled with whinny kids)
