They should further buff BB damage, but remove the afterburn. Forsake making sense in favor of making the weapon more like what it should be.

Oh god yes. This x100000.
I think they should allow the Flamethrower to ignite the random physics objects dotted around the map. At this point, they'd deal ambient fire damage to any enemy who stands near it. That way, the pyro could airblast his flaming street furniture around and use his environment to his advantage.
Perhaps it could also set buildings on fire, too. This would help a solo Pyro destroy sentry nests. I mean, come on, I doubt circuits trapped in a superheated metal box would work all that well.

Imagine 2fort with this. You could stand at spawn continually flaming the walls to prevent the enemies getting in.

i assume he means the engineers buildings, so they don't go out.
The new update made me fall in love with the pyro.
I airblasted a direct hit rocket to a soldier, a scout ran in the way and KABLOOEY.
Then later the same soldier who I airblasted his rocket before fired at me, I reflected and blasted him into the air. He survived fall damage and he was on fire. I ignited him.
It took 5 damn seconds.
I think the Airblast changes are good. I mean, -20% base damage, shorter afterburn, there need to be good things about the default Flamethrower. And the Minicrits are nothing you need to complain about. You need to be rewarded for having good reactions.
For anyone wondering about the logic of the people saying the BackBurner now is less powerful than before even though the latest update states that Valve gave it 20% more damage.
Let's say BackBurner's original value was 100.
Valve then made the BackBurner only do 80% of it's original value.
100 x 0.8.
100 x 0.8 = 80
With the recent update Valve took the new value, and multiplied it by 20%.
20% of 80 = 80 x 0.2
80 x 0.2 = 16
Here's how it went wrong.
80 + (0.2 x 80) = 96.
Here's why Valve and many other people thought it was returned to normal:
100 - 20 = 80
80 + 20 = 100
People confuse the way percentage works.
Here's where you people go wrong. VALVe simply changed the BB back to 100. They didn't do that stupid math, because there's no need, they KNOW the original value. They simply worded it weirdly.

You are still doing nerfed damage(Thanks to the god damn afterburn) with the backburner. Using the backburner leaves you defenseless you are defenseles doing less than you should be able to. This is why you are practically forced into using the flamethrower, regardless of damage.
This of course, is assuming your right.
I found an intelligent person on Steam forums:

Contains the answer to all pyro arguments. :siren:
I don't like that they nerfed the afterburn. I liked burning them and running leaving them to die, but now they just lose about half health and continue on

Also, I've got reflect-sticky killed while being airblast juggled by a pyro. It's actually easier to do with the faster airblast
I love the airblast buffs but I'm not a big fan of the flamethrower nerfs. I've become dependent on catching my enemies on fire and then airblasting them around so they can't kill me easily, the problem is my fire does piss damage so i run out of ammo too easily and without accomplishing much.
Friendly Tip:
Aim at the ground in front of them.

Indeed
As a dedicated w+m2 pyro I absolutely love the new update and will cry if they nerf any part of it.
