• We've all fucked up. Idler, non-idlers and even Valve. Here's why:

Seriously, when we will all have 90 hats to choose from, I seriously think the random drop system will be completely useless and we should have them all unlocked from the start.
Last I checked, there are still halos, and therefore halo-haters and halo-hater-haters
As this guy said, it's not over, at least until last halo ceases to exist. [editline]07:08AM[/editline]
I don't mind the lost weapons so much as I mind the halo. It would have been perfectly acceptable to give the non-idlers a random hat, removed the weapons and moved on, but that's not the case. What the halo's done is effectively divide the player base into two distinct social classes; those with halos and those without. The moralists believe they're on the light side, they're the better people, they believe they deserve their reward and since Valve said idlers were cheaters, they have the responsibility to enforce a sort of vigilante justice, just like if the idlers were aimbotters or wallhackers. The idlers believe Valve has made a mistake in removing their idled weapons and hats while they believe they did nothing wrong, as their idling was limited to a single, non-game server. They believe they were helping the idling issue by limiting the number of asshat idlers on active servers, while still receiving the same chances of acquiring a special goody then if they did play. They see the moralists as suckup goody-two-shoes who couldn't form their own opinion to save their lives. Halos and cheaters, white and black, haves and have-nots. I can't understand why no one on the Team Fortress team looked at this and said "y'know, we might have a problem here". Everyone has 20/20 hindsight, of course, but I don't see why no one at all could see any trouble to come out of it, and why Valve hasn't done anything to respond to it. This isn't some "AWP is overpowered", "nerf the Pyro" kind of issue, this is serious, and it's still tearing everyone apart. As I've said before, it's a bad answer to a broken system. I think if items could be unlocked whether a user was online or not, everything would be fixed. This isn't a MMORPG. There is no level grinding, there are no skill stats. What's the point in releasing all of this new content if people aren't going to see a lick of it?
Valve are just bunch of trolls. Halo's, overpowered developer items, various hints for example about pyro's gender...
I never see halo haters or hater haters in game.
This issue could either be solved by removing the halos or by making the hats not rare. I personally wish they'd make the hats not rare, people would then have no reason to be elitist assholes when they get one :S Also people would start forgetting about the halos if they got regular hats.

As I said before, 2 or 3 weeks, and this will all be dead. All the arguments you've posted here are applicable to medals, and yet everyone has stopped bitching about them. And it's not a broken system for getting hats at all and hopefully if this crafting thing comes in then maybe people will be getting hats from their 50th huntsman. They would probably give it to everyone if they were going to do anything remotely like that. and we've already discussed making hats not rare. And people aren't usually elitist assholes, when a guy on my server got the Camera beard, it was "Nice one dude" and that was it. When he equipped it, everyone oogled over it for about a minute and then that was it. If you take the Gentleman's hat club thing seriously, then it's no wonder you don't really appreciate Valve humour. The greatest response you could probably get from valve would be emailing them the http://www.elisanet.fi/masokisti/tf2hats_sniff4chn.png comic. Even that made me, a cold blooded idle hating halo elitist, pity the idler. In fact, that comic has made me want to give everyone that halo, THAT DAMN HEAVY FACE HAUNTS ME. Though I dislike how play times are mentioned in that comic, it shouldn't matter at all.
I think Valve should've given non-idlers just a random hat for their most played class or something, if they were that intent on "rewarding" them. I like the halo, but I'd prefer a spy hat.
This, oh this. I can see how this would be so much better. But then again I fortunately didn't encounter much hostility on servers.
The exit is that way, sir.
And why aren't you taking it then?
How idling is cheating is still beyond me.
Medals, however, do not reflect one's moral standing. The fuss over medals blew over quickly because some people just weren't lucky enough to get one. Nearly everyone had a chance, and it was just a cosmetic item. Halos, however, are a symbol. They're not just funny little items some people happened to acquire, for many people the halos represent their moral fiber, and that's what imparts the "holier-than-thou" attitude everyone is having a problem with.
i'm not playing tf2 until people stop complaining about halos/halo-havers jeering about them I don't care that other people have halos, good for them. It annoys me that people argue over it [editline]08:06PM[/editline] my hat took gameplay time to get and isn't overused like a halo though
I like the way on your link to certain servers, you pick a server which means people that join to go AFK are unwelcome, and are kicked. This has been said in that thread before. the solution is to reverse everything Valve just worked for in the past 3-4 days? lol.
Cloak Raider, you come into these threads acting like a big troll, but , I know the truth. Your upset because we idlers got decent hats for a long time, and all you moral highroader's get now is your gay little halo's. All I have to say is: Cry some more! If your not an elitist retard who understands that this halo situation is STILL effecting everyone, bravo, I grant you my promise that I won't come kill your children because they pollute the gene-pool. but in all seriousness, valve should apply there advice to pirating to this situation: If they have a problem with us "cheating" (AKA: Us cheating outside of the game, rewarding those who cheat inside of the game) then they should just fix the fucking game. We had no advantage over other players, just let me explain that: -Choice to idle is open to everyone -idle in game= idle out of game idle out of game is just the same, so, if you consider us cheaters, consider the massive population of players who couldn't figure out the idle'ing program and used in game, and the fuckers who used achievement maps to be cheaters as well. These players are a massive percent of people. The way to fix this: Take away halos (give them something non-unique, that will fix the banning/elitist bullshit)..... and fix the unlock system. that is right idlers. You don't get your precious hats and unlocks back. You DID violate the eula, but you do not deserve more punishment than taking a few measly hats away. Oh, if you miss your unlocks, go cry in a corner. Achievements are so brutally easy to get its not even funny. I got all my weapons through legitimate achievements before I used the idler. Not to mention the fact that it makes you more skilled, and therefore makes the game more enjoyable.
halo using spies are intelligant
@lowkee3: A-fucking-gree.
-snip I'm wrong-
How idling is cheating is still beyond me.
Not cheating per se, but gaining items from not playing discourages actual gameplay. It also messes up gameplay stats on Valve's end.
The halo is strategically one of the worst hats. So the hat has it's weakness.
Sooo, you're mad about a hat?
Sooo, you're mad about a hat?
I think more so the rift between the community it created.
I'm quite glad the server I regularly visit outlaws being an arse about the halo. Also:
