I have a friend that lost EVERYTHING, one that lost some weapons (didn't have any hats to start with), but got them back due to achievements. I myself lost some weapons (also didn't have hats), but also got them back due to achievements.

Buddy of mine lost the football helmet and possibly some dupes. He didn't really care about the helmet and was just doing it for the hats, he's long since milestoned for his unlocks. (Minus a few higher level items.)
I got a halo out of the deal, which was fun to wear for about 3 days and then I got sick of it. It was extended by a mod on my buddy's server that changed it to 'PENIS', so everyone ran around with a giant 'PENIS' over their head, and fun times were had. Except when I tried to Dead Ringer as a Spy.
