I think it has to do with steam and what it recognizes in the GCF or something. It could just be steam being as dumb as all hell too.

Same thing. I would be running across a room to cover and an enemy soldier would turn around and kill me from the opposite side.
The pyro might not have the beeping sound to warn him of sapping, but the engineer yells "Spy sappin' mah x" quite loud. In the case of a stab n' sap there's the critical death scream, and even if the engineer is already dead the sapper makes constant noise and shoots off sparks.
Not sure how I feel about making it harder for Spies to sap anything to death, but I'll have to see how it pans out. Has it been mentioned how many times you have to Homewreck a sapper to break it? Two?

New griefing method-
Go homewrecker pyro.
Team up with enemy spy.
Spy saps engineer entrance.
Unsap exit.
Because the homewrecker only removes the sapper at one end, the engineer can't remove the entrance sapper.
Cause engineer to ragequit.
Has that been tested?
