Wait, really? I had no idea. Can I hear some more info on this? I don't see anything on the wiki about it.
Flamethrower uses a bunch of tiny hitboxes to determine damage. The hitboxes move different directions based on movement. Playing Pyro well involves learning how to "do the dance" so to speak. You have to make sure you're actually hitting someone with all/most-of your flame boxes. It's not the same thing you were talking about, but I found it worth bringing up.
oh look, 100 pages woop de doo But I think they should upgrade the source engine for this multi day update. (if it's really one) Monday: Battle Monday (new gamemode and new weapons) Tuesday: Source Engine Tuesday (upgrade to next engine) Wednesday: Voice Wednesday Thursday: Meet the Pyro Any good names?
well I'm glad to see you've thought this through
I think the Winter Sniper Set looks pretty snazzy. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=53336322
I like that hat a lot, but I find it unlikely it would get into the update since it's summer and this set kinda focuses on winter. Though thats just my theroey on it, I do want it in the update.

AS starts in ~10 minutes. Anyone that gets it please keep us informed of developments.
It's nice, but why an Egyptian theme for the Pyro?
What if every class had an equality to themes? Every class would have a knight weapon/hat, space weapon/hat, mafia, military, and other themes such as Egyptian?
AS starts in ~10 minutes. Anyone that gets it please keep us informed of developments.
What's in 10 minutes?

Dear Valve, hire ned quickly pls.

If Valve has a lot of new weapons to introduce, and they've decided to use contributor models for them, I really hope they took the liberty to pick and choose the best of the best instead of lumping sets together. I honestly believe that bundling things in themed packs really limits the creativity in making new stats. Either pick your favorite weapon and come up with stats based on its appearance, or come up with some really interesting stats and pick the most professionally-modeled weapon for it. If you try to use all three or four of the included items in a "theme," you're painting yourself into a corner.
What's in 10 minutes?
Get the fuck out
Get the fuck out
To be fair AS can mean anything. It took me a minute to understand you myself...
i would like these types of weapons, please -a musket type weapon for sniper that had a bayonette that stabbed with reload -a flamethrower that gave the pyro insane speed but shot flames out of the back of the weapon like a rocket -something for scout that reduces gravity slightly but removes double jump (downside is jumping up and floating and being a huge target) -a medigun with unlimited range but didnt lock onto targets (anti death ray?)
While we're talking about this crap, the wiki reminded me: what the hell is the purpose of the pyro's back canister? It's not attached to anything, it doesn't match any replaceable parts of the stock flamethrower, so what does it do?

did valve anounce anything yet?
To be fair AS can mean anything. It took me a minute to understand you myself...
This thread was practically alight with Adult Swim stuff. I have to wonder why some people have 48 hour memories...
did valve anounce anything yet?
No, but it is heavily expected that info on the update will come out tomorrow though.
speaking of the pyro's brass beast please valve, look at this baby and tell me it you wouldn't marry it http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7185
You cannot marry a baby. That is illegal.
In a perfect world, Valve would present some of their more refined stats for the community, then the community could both model and vote on what they thought was the most appropriate-looking weapon to release with the stats. But that'd be a little too useful for the really-great-but-totally-neglected Steam Workshop they set up.
No, but it is heavily expected that info on the update will come out tomorrow though.
ok thanks for the info
This thread was practically alight with Adult Swim stuff. I have to wonder why some people have 48 hour memories...
Because some people, like myself, don't look at the thread for 6 hours and come back to 597 new posts? Ain't nobody got time for that. I had no clue what AS was either.
So I had this idea for a community building exercise, promotion for steam, valve and the workshop, plus big changes for their two big games, Dota and TF2.
It's a fantastic idea but I really don't think Icefrog would go for the "outside balances to Dota 2" thing.

Editing the schema, response rules, game_sounds.txt, etc, etc should not be some kind of secret society of hush hush under the table "we accept this, but this isn't any official" type deals they have now with non-art fixes. There's nothing wrong with us coders! Our half of the spectrum can be just as standardized and easy to implement as models. They just need to open the gates, and let us try :( Letting Item Test run custom items_games.txt would do WONDERS

It allows you to be more abstract, as you're creating a larger umbrella. If well-executed, all of the pieces of the set can remain under the umbrella while still allowing diversity. And besides, nobody likes to have a retro-futuristic rocket launcher, olive shotgun and riding crop on the same class. I know that that loadout is horrible and nobody would ever use it, but if I wasn't lazy I'm sure I could think of something everyone uses that doesn't fit at all. As I said, if well-executed, a set can have good enough synergy that people will actually use the items in combination. Unfortunately, that hasn't been achieved yet. Closest to doing so would be the Milkman set.
