It seems logical that the update would hit when the timer hit 24:00, because then it would mean that it's 24 more hours til day 3.

Well there was 72 hours when the update when live and page day 1 was unlocked
if they intend to keep it in order and have the pyro movie come out when the counter ticks down. the best bet would be to do it every 24 hours.
well either way they can update at any point on June 26 and its still day 2. let's hang in there mateys.

It's just a blog post and additional links and webpages being made accessible to the public. They have no obligation to post it on the 24-hour mark. The only restriction they've given themselves is to have it today -- hence Day 2.
Just being a bit realistic. Don't get your hopes up for a post dead-on, patience will leave you pleasantly surprised whereas getting overexcited might leave you disappointed until it's posted.
