I forgot Backburner added the airblast, Im thinkin old school Back then they did it all the way, and I think the grordobort thrower is worse than 10% extra damage
I've been using the Phlog lately just for the fun of it, and I've found it's a lot easier to kill pyros who use it then you think. When you taunt, you're completely open to a tauntkill or backstab, being airblasted into space, etc. And if you've got the brains to do so, all you need to do is stand back and wait for the taunt to finish and attack from a distance for an easy kill.
Crutch weapon that is terribad against competent people. BTW, the Backburner also lacks random crits. Bring the damage of the regular flamethrower to its old value (the backburner's) and we get balance.
Phlogistinator is like handycapping yourself. You don't have any airblast. That's why I love it. Also, stop with the weapon discussion. It's not the right thread.
I agree with you on that one, I like to use the Cow Mangler as rocket jumping with it actually does less damage than any other rocket launcher (besides Rocket Jumper). It pairs nicely with the Gunboats and the extra rocket only aids more in rocket jumping. It's just that annoying slow reload that makes me dread using it sometimes.
I usually roll with the mangler, shotgun, and disciplinary action. I find the three weapons compliment eachother well. I've blown up quite a few sentries with my shotgun after stunning them with my mangler's alt fire. And my whip has killed so many people it's not even funny, no one expects that extra reach :v:

Ambush attacks come out of nowhere and are usually hidden behind corners were enemies aren't really going to expect a Pyro coming out of nowhere. It pairs nicely with the Detonator, not only do you heal any damage caused by flare-jumping it gives you more places to hide and ambush.
So yeah, who thinks that the new medigun is gonna have an ubercharge that makes both the Medic and Person being charged move 3 times the current speed they have?
Phlogistinator is like handycapping yourself. You don't have any airblast
Back in my day using weapons like Phlog and Backburner would make the airblast not even fucking matter anymore. But whatever. I'm done. Edit: No I'm not apparently

I killed more spies from behind me than I really should have...
And, on the topic of flamethrowers, I still don't understand people who complain about the Backburner AND the Phlog being overpowered, but are perfectly fine with their Degreasers doing random crits.

Now back to update discussion: TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT.
TOMORROW AROUND NOONISH PST IS THE (night?).
And, on the topic of flamethrowers, I still don't understand people who complain about the Backburner AND the Phlog being overpowered, but are perfectly fine with their Degreasers doing random crits.
Now you've made me notice that But the shit you can do with a degreaser... The effect seems to stack, and it's pretty easy to use all 3 fairly well.
Speaking of Demoknights, they should fix the crit issue, as fun as assasin Persianknights are, as in making the subclass actually viable and not just a slot waste. Still, make the crits slighty harder to get, BUT make the Targe also able to hurt at any range. That way, both shields are somewhat viable. EDIT: That's shit you are doing with your Secondary and Melee; I'm not keen on the concept of a primary meant to boost your secondary and melee. And Degreaser Axtinguishing, not too keen on that; I'll just use my Gas Jockey set, and leave the Axtinguishing for the old combo-pyro loadout; the one that nobody goes around calling broken.
I really hope they're not doing all this stuff to distract us from the scout/medic grodbort sets... I wanna see those too damn it. I mean whatever the pyro gets from this update would have to be REALLY fucking impressive to replace the degreaser.

Charge n' Targe. I came close once, I had enough heads to do the maximum shield damage, the right distance to make it hurt someone, but than the person I happened to hit was an overhealed Heavy, who shortly after blasted me to death. :(
Not really, all they have to do is balance the Degreaser so it isn't an upgrade over the other 3 flamethrowers, despite the fact it is the least combat-capable flamethrower. In fact, beef the Flamethrower weapon class.
if you kill and take his weapon its worth it
I hope i misunderstood
If you're not talking about the updates at all then don't do it in the speculation thread :v:
Balance issues
Didn't they do something to the degreaser in attempt to balance it in the beta? I don't remember what it was though.
I wish I could get the beta to even run, I always got some lame error the last time I tried...
Now you've made me notice that But the shit you can do with a degreaser... You could nerf the shit out of the Degreaser to where it does no damage on its own, has no crits, and takes away 25 health, and it would STILL be the best flamethrower.
ew no, that just makes it TOO similar to the splendid screen how about make the splendid screen do melee mini crits on a full range instead of a crit
Well to be fair it would make it so the Charge n' Targe does less shield damage, not even enough to kill an engy, but more defensive with the increased resitance. As well as it's counterpart the Splendid Screen which with enough heads can basicly one shot most of the classes with it's shield bash, but has less defense. So it's either more defense or more offense.

It's the worst flame thrower.
I love Grordbort's weapons as much as the next person, but would I be in the minority to say that I hope the Grordbort's weapons get their own update later so that they don't replace/prevent any (EDIT: other) community submitted weapons from being in this update? I hope the Scout/Medic weapons get their own update like the Solider weapons instead of taking the spotlight from community weapons like what happened with Australian Xmas 2011.
My opinion on the Degreaser is that it only does less damage and the switch speed is useless. It's the worst flame thrower.
Yeah quickly moving to a flare gun or axetinguisher or reserve shooter is totally fucking useless

It's working out just fine. I don't really see much point in using flare gun with Axetinguisher since 2 flare pops works like a flare + axetinguisher
