Is your spacebar broken dawg?
So at the end of that economics blog post he's proposing a real time way of looking at relative prices between items? In other words, that trading spreadsheet, but based on actual trading data? Oh boy. If you were clever enough, you could read in that data from some API (if Valve created one) and analyse it to determine opportunities for arbitrage. In other words, TF2 market analysts incoming.

no if that came out it would just cause near instant equilibrium. as is many people look to the community pricing guide, if that came out EVERYONE would want the price on that thing for their item...

Surely it would be possible to exploit that by trading buds like 200 times between 2 accounts and then go on TF2Outpost and say "So much demand for buds, I sell mine for 100 keys".
is anyone else re-watching all the Meet the Team videos, laughing their ass off remembering how damn funny valve is? And in awe at how fucking beautiful this art style is?
Good god I love this game's media
I cannot fucking hold my excitement for the last video. It'll be a showstopper.
Anything new happen since page 25?
Anything new happen since page 25?
EDIT: Nothing else happened sinc page 25. Sorry for the mistake

I'm fairly sure Valve is smart enough to not let something like this influence their mechanics.

Surely it'd be very easy to detect such foul play.
And 200 trades is hardly a blip in the vast size of the TF community.

TF2 gives me a very home-like feel. Maybe it's how many hours I've put into this game. But I just feel great being on maps like Badlands, Badwater or Gorge.

this dumb update made me play the game again.
The wonders of a silly ARG. It's great, since I haven't played in a while, 99% of the weapons are completely new for me.

Well, think of 200 as a theory number. It could easily be done with a simple automated program or even just a dedicated body of individuals. And pruning those individuals from the trading tracker wouldn't particularly work because the moment they see they no longer have a net influence on the feedback they would just shift their price pushing ring into another set of accounts.
Any type of automated feedback/price system for tracking the TF2 economy via steam trades could be manipulated ultimately to grave ends.

For such a trend to be detected, it would need to be widespread and persistent.
Just because Joe Shmoe and Jane Doe traded a couple thousand times with an automated program doesn't mean that the community agrees with such prices.
If Valve were to ever have steam trade trends be tracked with an automation, there will definitely be parameters to catch people trying to game the system. They're not stupid.
Will you guys explain what has happened since the last major update? I'm confused and I'm not going to read 300 pages of old stuff to find out.
tf2 economy just needs a bailout
just give us all keys valve
please
All my excuses ! My english is very bad, and I confused " Anything" With " Nothing".
All my apoligizes for this mistake !
What were the approximate times of the updates coming out the past couple of days?
you know, starting TF2 up again, I realize how hard it is to get shit. So many weapons, so little time :v
The drop cap needs to be larger, I think.
What were the approximate times of the updates coming out the past couple of days?
11-noonish on my time (MDT)
Don't know about the rest of you, but I've been into a few games where they up and decided to add a formal stock markety type thing. It never goes over well.

they've done it before.
Damn it steam.
That 80mb update is 2 fucking gigs for me.(And I am on my .3mbps phone internet. Still downloading.)
And yes, I do keep it updated. I have no idea why it says it's 2 gigs.
What the hell valve?
Also, what if pyro is an alien?
It could fit with the no real language beyond grunts and mumbles.
(Also, my theory of pyro being a robot or a alien to sneak past gender seems like it could be working out to be somewhat true.)

It's a some form of bug in Steam, it's not actually 2 gigs.
I have never, and will never understand TF2 economy
one day, Max's heads are really rare and worth dolla dolla, the next, they're not worth much? And then, the next day, promos released, suddenly they have a new price, but that gets changed, nothing makes sense to me
I don't bother with hats for this reason

You're returning to tf2? Welcome back!
Under normal circumstances I'd offer you a few things from my gigantic weapon cache because I love helping people get back in to the game, but update's soon so I gotta hoard what I can. :v:
This oughta help you out a bit, though: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Idling#Methods

I don't like taking handouts anyway mate, I'dve rejected you
however, this idling thing seems sweet
How rare are the capicators? I don't seem to be seeing them drop that often. I've seen Bananas and lint drop in the nigh thousands so far

I stopped playing right after the third halloween event, and started playing again not a long time ago. And then I noticed that when you stop caring about cosmetics and disable the item inspecting box, the game is more enjoyable.
Wow, facepunch was just down, and none of the servers in TF2 worked right before
You know what amazes me? You people were able to make these links out.
You know what amazes me even more? Valve was actually expecting it.
