Better for you? And I disagree, I think the fact that you're using people with a [b]disease[/b] having to control their intake of the food as proof positive it's unhealthy is cute rofl.
I have no banana peels, so I've been watching from the sidelines.
The axe that came in that scorch shot set is pretty nice looking, I wouldn't mind seeing that getting in as well. But it seems like we'll only be getting that flare gun. God I hope it does something neat.

Interesting theory. If I were to give a friend my two banana peels would their code be different?
I opened up steam and double clicked tf2 expecting it to launch, instead i have to reinstall. not as large as the full game was, but still more than a gigabyte. i was playing just a few hours ago. is this part of the event or is my computer just tripping out?

What if each item type, when crafted, is specifically related to one piece of media.
For example, Bananas are connected to the Poopy Joe incident, because obviously Joe was a monkey and there's that whole banana monkey connection.
Perhaps once everything is revealed, we'll get a little bit of insight into some backstory. Then, at a preassigned time (like the wrenches) and update will launch/something in the game code will activate, and the other items will be craftable, causing a similar scenario which will connect itself to more media.
(ex. Crafting 2 conductors will reveal a string of code, that will lead to more QR codes, showing parts of schematics for machines or things that'd build robots).
