Although I agree, the new Equalizer skin is covered in blood, implying you use it to kill people regularly. Escape Plan is scratchless and clean, since you use it to escape more than anything else.
I still think the new Equalizer should boost your speed up to 90% when drawn at lower health, and the Escape Plan should have a -50% damage penalty. Otherwise, the Equalizer is not quite worth it, and the Escape Plan is not that much of a nerf.
