Drury have you been watching Codename Kids Next Door again?
Again? That sounds like I stopped at some point.
Best art deco: Team Team
<3 Merci I really loved the best x section of the results page - much hilarity
So how about 'dem download links, eh?
They're right there. Use your eyes and look for the thing that says "Download".

So I guess I may as well forget about ever getting any results then?
Wow these are really good, guys. Really, really nice job. Looking forward to the next competition!
My name is spelled wrong on the last page :(
Mine is spelled right but there's B is not a capital letter :L Doesn't really matter tho.
So what, was there only 9 entries in this comp? I only see 9 entries.
So what, was there only 9 entries in this comp? I only see 9 entries.
There are 9 entries on the website, a further 3 in the first post of this thread (that they haven't put on the site yet), and at least two others (including mine) that seem to have disappeared entirely :/
I gotta' be honest, this website feels a little lacking. I know there were more than 9 entries but only those 9 were judged. And the ones that are judged don't give enough insight on why they received the scores they got. It's apparent things weren't very organized if some entries aren't even featured on the website or may have been forgotten. Personally, it would have been much more organized if all judges were required to fill out a form for each completed entry they were judging and fully explain what score they gave for each category of each entry and why. Y'know, like what art professors or actual artists do in universities. This way the contestants can get a better understanding on why they received the scores they got and how they can improve themselves.
The other items havent been forgotten or something. They will be featured on the website like i said before, you will see your scores, I already corrected Cbasts and Zebus´ name, and fixed a problem on the website. Adding in the download links that I have received so far ( if you were part of the competition please send me a download link too so I can add it later). Our main problem right now is, that I can´t talk to Frying Dutchman since I didnt see him after the steam server crash on sunday :/. I am really sorry but I will try my best to imrpove the website and I can already promise that the modcomp #2 will be much better organized.

However as for the organisation goes the whole thing has been lacking from the start sadly, there has been some chaotic communication such as when one of us aint online everything falls apart. I'm already setting up new documents we didn't have before and a synced file administration. I do agree with you and a whole bunch of others here that the overall thing fell short on quite a few occasions but I expected such things from the start and the only thing we can do from now is to learn and improve upon it. Getting multiple mixed responses also helps with confusion such as the submission part where a couple of teams sent their files multiple times in with different contents. The other thing is people expected feedback and information about their entries while we were under the impression people wanted this to compete with one and another. Now knowing this, we can put more emphasize on the judging and feedback instead of a mere results page with scores. Already working with only 7 judges has proven to be chaotic so I'm unsure how we are going to streamline this. As having about 20 items to test, view, judge and write about is quite a task. Our judges also have other things to do so it takes away quite a chunk of their time. Then the timespan, yes. Instead of blaming it on the judges or anyone else for that matter I'll direct that focus to me. Mainly I had some things going on I prefer not to disclose with you guys but when I did had the time I didn't do enough for the modcomp As for this competition and the next one, I'm working with Tal to wrap everything up from this round and then its time to properly plan the next one with set times. All the feedback we have gotten so far and our own impressions will be taken into the whole process of redefining everything and improving it. People that want to help out and who know what they are doing or comments on what to do are as always appreciated. In short: We started something new, things went wrong, lets try again but better.
You consider that going haywire?
You should see the panic when Im away for a couple of days without telling. Some people expect me to be online 24/7 ^:v:^
Here´s our motivation:
Maybe i'll actually be part of the next one, who wants a mediocre modeler/a bad texturer?

When we were working on the NotLU, we had a spreadsheet documenting the status of the items and tons of text files documenting the status of the project. I know I personally had about 7 text files lined up on my desktop outlining every aspect of what still needed to be done and I went out of my way to add every contributor on Steam so that we could discuss any issues we had. It bewilders me that two of our items could just be completely forgotten despite being submitted on time (especially the laser bow, which was posted in the thread several times from concept to completion). I say forgotten because not only did they lose the items, but no one ever thought to contact us about the items being missing. So yeah, best of luck with whatever you guys do in the future but I don't think I'll be participating in any more modding competitions. It's a real turn-off to work hard on something and have it be completely overlooked for no defensible reason.

He should be finished by now but I can't seem to get a hold on him. Daimao is the main issue of the delay (no offense Daimao). Every judge sent in their results in time, but he already is a month over time. Your items haven't been left out. I'm really sorry for the delay.

It's more that it wasn't made at all clear what exactly was going on - I went on the webpage, and oh, my entry isn't there, with essentially no explanation until today, which annoys me far more than just having to wait. Something like adding 'Apologies to Team A, Team B etc. , here's exactly what's happened, we will sort it out within the next few hours.' would have been at least a bit nicer.

"Team Hitlers woman" has not yet been rated like Evil_Knevil has pointed out. That team submitted the Retrobow and Retrogoggles. Seeing as you kept hammering on the wavesaber I've not noticed you were in two different teams. That is where the confusion is at.

I told him they were submitted before the Wavesaber (which was judged) and he realized he must have somehow overwritten the entry because I resubmitted both the Wavesaber and the bow at some point. Then he said that to make up for it, he would have all of the items reviewed as a set like Ronin/Psyke's Heavy items (apparently the submission criteria was changed after the submission deadline and multiple entries are not allowed). Now I'm being told that they actually were reviewed and that we're one of the mysterious "two teams" that haven't been listed on the website yet. I guess that means our scores were so low that they didn't even bother to wait for the results before announcing the winners. If that's the case then this whole thing is even more confusing and unorganized. Why does Dutchman, who I thought was the organizer, not know that the items have already been scored? Who is the other team that hasn't been fully reviewed? Why announce the winners at all if the reviewing process is still ongoing?
Here's what happened. I asked Dutchman about the missing items and he told me they were never submitted. I told him they were submitted before the Wavesaber
I was under the impression you only were in team "Deadline Dodgers" which did the wavesaber.
(which was judged) and he realized he must have somehow overwritten the entry because I resubmitted both the Wavesaber and the bow at some point.
That was my initial reaction due to me getting 3 different pm's from you.
Then he said that to make up for it, he would have all of the items reviewed as a set like Ronin/Psyke's Heavy items (apparently the submission criteria was changed after the submission deadline and multiple entries are not allowed).
I've said we would make up for to include the imagery and workshop/download links as I was still under the illusion that 1 team created the whole set which you didnt mention or clarified. The criteria got changed when the results were done seeing as its a hassle for the judges to rate big packs such as the Astro heavy each individually while they compliment eachother and are meant as one set for a class.
Now I'm being told that they actually were reviewed and that we're one of the mysterious "two teams" that haven't been listed on the website yet. I guess that means our scores were so low that they didn't even bother to wait for the results before announcing the winners.
As stated before the scores for the bow and goggles didn't come close to the top 3. And do I really have to repeat myself over the team confusion?
If that's the case then this whole thing is even more confusing and unorganized. Why does Dutchman, who I thought was the organizer, not know that the items have already been scored? Who is the other team that hasn't been fully reviewed? The judging is done and final, the results ended up practically the same as it is now.
All we can really take away from this at this point is that the next competition had better be well-organized from day one. You had a practice run, as it were. You now have a chance, whenever you are fully ready, to engage competition number two. Should number two go over poorly, then to be honest there probably won't be enough of a level of trust to maintain a third. I'm wholly in favor of you trying again, I love watching the competitions and the products and everything else, but you ultimately have to please the modelers and texturers, and you have one shot, basically. Best of luck.
Next time I'd suggest the participators to provide images of the submissions as a requirement, eg. the item itself in 3rd person and in FPS view. I spent 5 hours straight slogging through skins loading them up, even then I was only scoring the submissions, adding a personalised description to each item would have taken a LOT longer. (bugger that right off) Besides if there was an explanation for each item, you guys would just complain about how you don't agree with it. Just so you participators know, judging was very tedious...especially when half the items looked like they were untextured, texturing is not just colouring in! Anyway, I just wanted to praise Dutchman, Tal and Evil for putting the contest together given the difficulty of organising such a feat. Also with putting up with people complaining how it was unfairly judged and poorly organised just because they didn't win.
just because they didn't win.
Even people not competing said it was disorganized.
I liked that competition.
