I'm not a great artist, so it could probably need some more details. However I figure some more obvious ignition related part can be added to the cut off extinguisher hose, and when Pyro pulls the extinguisher trigger it sets off the fire at the end near the fire hose nozzle. The fire hose being attached to the exstinguisher, deviously filled with inflammable gas.

It needs work yes, but I reckon it's a start :v:
I rather doubt a fire hose can be attached that easily, nor is it that short. It'd have to be a cut-off part tied on with duct tape or something.
Simo Häyhä?
Seems like more modern stuff to me because of the goggles. The rifle's obviously inspired by the Russian semi-auto SVD, which didn't exist in Häyhä's sniping days.
Also, the Finnish army used skis not snow shoes.
Yup. I was just going to point out that the weapon and goggles look a bit too modern. Also the snow shoes.

I'm aware of that, most of the TF2 weapons are taped together with a lot of wear and tear and Pyro's flamethrowers in particular tend to be completely makeshift. Fire hoses are obviously not usually attached to fire extinguishers and the hose from the fire extinguisher is usually attached to the fire extinguisher. An entire fire hose would definitely be unnecessarily longer than what would be practical to carry around as a weapon.
When is this stock update thing happening? as the ModComp signup thread is supposed to go up this week.
I understand your point, but I meant the medigun as a device. The looks may have been inspired by a fire hose, sure.
Actually it's supposed to be literally crafted out of one
Make items that fit the original tf2 theme. Namely the original 2007/2008 release and updates

Actually it's supposed to be literally crafted out of one
Yeah but the original argument that the medigun has no real life counterpart has not been disproven though. PART of the medigun is inspired by a real life fire hose, but the science behind the backpack the hose is attached to that creates the healing beam has no real life counterpart.
Regardless... I think TF2's theme is heavily inspired by 1950/1960 secret agent action movies and comics. It has a lot of weapons that exist in real life, but it also has mad scientist like the Medic and Engineer creating state of the art and top secret advanced technology like teleporters and healing beams, as well as agents like the Spy using state of the art top secret advanced technology gadgets like invisibility watches. Then we have the russian dumb muscle henchman, the anonymous faceless henchman, and the crocodile dundee outback hunter.
chalky's whole argument was weapons are close to their real life counter-parts. Medigun is close to a firehose, nearly all the visual aspects are an original firehose, only modificatins are tape, bottom handle and wires. It reinforces his argument anyway, and it reinforces the original theme of heavily improvised weapons made by specialists to do a special job.

Yeah. My definition/theory of the original style is that it's set in the 60s, but in a world where the laws of reality are governed by the simple minds of the mercenaries: Wrenches are tools used to construct and repair things, so everything can be constructed and repaired by hitting it with a wrench. Spies in contemporary movies have invisibility watches, and since movies never lie that's a thing that totally exists. If you don't eat food you will die, so eating food prevent you from dying. Et cetera.

To be fair I'd hardly call the Heavy dumb. He only really seems that way because of his broken English.
On the subject of fire hoses, it reminded me of an old concept I made for a flamethrower to match the Brigade and Fire Axe.

If Poker Night at the Inventory is considered canon, he has a PHD in Russian Literature, making him one of three doctors on the team.

Heavy may be smart, but he does have certain issues, for example, he loves and cares for his sandvich and minigun.
To be fair I'd hardly call the Heavy dumb. He only really seems that way because of his broken English.
Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that he's a professor in Russian literature? I can't remember seeing it anywhere, but I've heard several people say that it's the case. Still, the Heavy possesses a childlike worldview; He generally acts as though he can only focus on one thing at a time, and he his obsession with size as a determinant of value is pretty preschooler-like.
But yeah, they're definitely not all dumb. The Engineer and Medic are definitely intelligent, the Spy seems fairly clever too, the Demo and Scout are probably quite average and the Pyro is the Pyro.
I think they're all pretty narrow-minded and ignorant about anything outside their field of interest, though.
EDIT: And so am I, apparently. I saw the length of the post Pocket Medic quoted, and assumed it was mine. I just made a counterargument to an argument that wasn't really made in the first place, so.. Uh, disregard this post, I suppose? Like, retroactively.
To be fair I'd hardly call the Heavy dumb. He only really seems that way because of his broken English.
True, but he appears brutal and slow-witted at first impression. I think he's heavily inspired by the dumb muscle henchman stereotype, but that doesn't mean that he's an exact copy of it.
I'd say Sniper is fairly intelligent.

I'd say there's a fair difference between really liking his job and loving and sleeping with his minigun.
aficionados = not normal?
The man has a bed for his gun, he talks to them as if they were a lover, and gets upset if anyone attempts to disturb them.
He's getting a little too involved with that aspect of his job.

Isnt it indicated in general military training to take care for. name and clean. your assigned weapon?
Yes it may be a little over the top with heavy, but i wouldn't say he's no more different than some people you could find in the real world.
I don't think heavy has formal military training.

I'm not saying that he's insane or stupid or even abnormal. He's just far more obsessive over his guns than any other character I've heard of.
I think they're all pretty narrow-minded and ignorant about anything outside their field of interest, though.
I think the theory that the TF2 characters all have different forms of mental illness is pretty credible :v:
Spy and Sniper are coldblooded professional killers who work alone and feel very little sympathy for anyone, the Demoman is a violent and an alcoholic with an extreme disregard for his personal safety, Scout is very ill-tempered and narcissistic, Medic is very strict and frustrated by incompetence as well as being a sadist who enjoys seeing people in pain, Heavy has an extreme obsession with his weapon and talks to inanimate objects, Soldier is highly delusional and obsessed with warfare, Pyro is a pyromaniac that enjoys burning people alive and also acts very childish, the Engineer is obsessed with designing and maintaining his machines and although he appears to be very nice and polite he's a coldblooded professional.
Where was that /b/ or whatever post that addresses all of the characters illnesses.
I wouldn't call demoman's a VIOLENT alcoholic. he's agressive towards the other team. but he's quite kind/supportive to his own compared to the other classes

it's the same comic syndrome we all are used to now with realism vs. cynicism. We cannot super impose reality on these comical characters because the moment we do so it will expose how ridiculous they are. Suspension of disbelief.
Tried editing a player model, i've imported it and...

The source sdk displays it like this, while instead if you die ingame it crashes when it becomes a ragdoll (yes, hl2.exe crash)
Any suggestions?
