Reposting here so I can get some feedback:
The fun part can almost begin: tweaking and texturing. The flagpole needs to be detailed and some triangles cut out the flag. Colors are base and not set in stone (as with the phong, so hold your horses.)

Reposting here so I can get some feedback:
Very nicely made, but the rocket launcher feels a bit over the top silly looking.
Recently remade the soldier stuff I originally made almost a year ago. Gun is not actually textured. Hair is part of the necktie, collar and cuffs. Fits under hats slightly better than the Grordbord hair. Might still give epaulettes a try, though I'll probably make them a separate misc item.
If you want to make a full set, give him a 18th century cannon for a rocket launcher. [sp]Just because that's been done before doesn't mean it can't be done even better, it could fit your theme well and there's nothing bad about a little competition.[/sp] [editline]9th May 2012[/editline] I have issues imagining how the hair could work as a misc for the Soldier though, since he has no hatless item we would not be able to see his hair without him having his helmet on. Perhaps if you could convince Valve to make the default helmet but no other hat invisible while it was equipped.
Hat used color change!

Hat+Hair or Hair only. bugger if I know how difficult such a thing would be to design.
I'm no modder, but perhaps a style for the hat? Hat+Hair or Hair only. bugger if I know how difficult such a thing would be to design.
it would be easier to just have valve do a helmet /no helmet style, which is only a few lines of code and no modeling needed at all. Or they could just add hatless soldier, like they should of done years ago.
why is inspecter showing up in the thumbnail of this video what the fuck is wrong with my browser
I like how I made a cameo for no exact reason.

So I know it's cliche - but does anyone have any tips of achieving a good 'wrap' effect for a model? A la the tape round the Soda popper's handle etc? I have an item with some metal struts, that I need to 'wrap' in tape - but can't for the life of me get it to look any good, or like it's actually wrapped round. So, any good ideas on how to effectively 'wrap' a model with tape? Thanks!
I've been extruding splines but there's probably a better way
You could always use paths in Blender, assuming you actually are using Blender.

Eep, I'm using 3ds max
Tell me more *adquiring sitting pyro cute pose*
Woops, meant curves, sorry, confusing Photoshop with Blender. Here's a basic video that shows how curves can be used in Blender. Essentially they're paths that you can deform meshes along, so it's handy for stuff like cloth wraps, vines, etc. Here's a few resources to learn about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moryL-IiooA http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Deforming_Meshes_using_the_Curve_Modifier
Oh that's cool. Is there anything similar in 3ds?

go ahead
go ahead
I've got loads of unused/unloved concepts as well if you want those to...
oh darn NOW i realize that looks like the stock pistol with a silencer
won't be a problem if you do a good texture job
In Max you just need to make a curve and make it renderable, you can then convert that to an editable poly and go from there. So create> NURBS> CV curve> set up your points> Modify tab> Rendering> Enable in viewport.
won't be a problem if you do a good texture job
eep [editline]9th May 2012[/editline]
;35889609']I've got loads of unused/unloved concepts as well if you want those to...
add me on steam
