Alright! So I made a particle, now the problem is how do I link it to the Minigun? Is there anyway at all or am I just wasting time?
I wouldn't recommend attaching particles to your weapon if it's a constant emitter. Every time somebody taunts it'll reload the particle, causing it to appear multiple times to the point where it will cause severe lag.

When I open it in item test it says this in the console. What else do I need to do to make it work? Attemped to precache unknown particle system "bbooster_soundwave"! Here's my attempt at a summer set for Soldier, the Water Warrior (name subject to change): Everything's a WIP, especially the gun. Comments/crits/etc welcome as ever.
It looks great, but honestly it feels more like a Scout set (aside from the whole water pump thing being perfect for the Bison animations.)
Naww, none of it would work for Scout. His face moves around a lot more and he has a huge quiff, which would rule out the skin-tight hat, he doesn't have the water pump reload thing as you mentioned, and he doesn't have grenades to replace with water bombs (although a water bomb would make a great milk replacement. I'll get on that.) Thanks for saying it looks great though!
Water weapons/hats for the Pyro, that is something I would love to see in TF2.

On the topic of water related items, anyone ever think of giving a set of waterwings to the Scout/Pyro? You know, these:
i'd make the goggles more snorkel like ones.
Honestly scuba goggles I feel would fit with the Pyro more, maybe give him a scuba tank to go with it now that we have a tank bodygroup.

[editline]17th May 2012[/editline]
Honestly scuba goggles I feel would fit with the Pyro more, maybe give him a scuba tank to go with it now that we have a tank bodygroup.
Scuba goggles for Pyro would just look weird, and not in a good way either. Besides, I think enough extremely silly items for a Pyro summer set will be made either way. Scuba goggles for Engineer's goggles perhaps, or for Heavy. No need to make anything for Spy though, I've seen tons of scuba gear for him already.

At least they're not the small goggles, but I still feel Pyro has enough of these kind of items and I'd much rather see some more serious items being made for Pyro. Right now I'm kinda bummed out by the fact that there's barely any non-silly miscs to go with my current Pyro items :(
Now that we're talking about Pyro miscs:
There's few items based on the scary psycho who burns people alive part of Pyro's original stereotype, and he's been extremely flanderized into just being wacky and silly. I wish Pyro had more items that wasn't childish or overly cartoony, and generally that he had more professional and menacing items.

It's fine to have cartoony stuff if there's some more classy stuff as well, but in the Pyro's case there's not much class at all.
You could give that a nice tiny glow by adding a cone of polys coming out from the glass, with a transparency in its texture, like the flam on the flamethrower.
It's based on a diving helmet, not a lantern.
It's based on a diving helmet, not a lantern.
I know. I'm thinking Scooby Doo...
So I wouldn't be able to add a particle effect to the heavy's minigun? I mean would it be as simple as overwriting the particle effect it uses for its muzzle flash/bullets or is it more complicated and is more of Valve side stuff?
Oh, that's easy. Just use -tools to open the game in tools mode. Once the game loads up click on the tools tab and set it to particle editor. Then open muzzle_flash.pcf and you'll know heavy's minigun effect when you see it. Also, when you save it, make sure to click "save as" and select the name of the system you're editing and then press the little "go one folder up" button. For some reason, they don't save properly unless you save it directly to the TF2 folder instead and then move it into the particles folder yourself.
I'd like a chainsaw for Pyro, or a chainsaw inspired flamethrower. A [sp]flamesaw[/sp] :v: I think Pyro's original stereotype is quite reminiscent of the masked psychopaths that also often uses chainsaws in games or movies, and he even holds his flamethrower in a way that's rather similar to psycho killers with chainsaws. [t]http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/user/1/19858-108784-DrSalvadorjpg-468x.jpg[/t][t]http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/eminem-hockeymask.jpg[/t][t]http://sweetgreen.org/hd-wallpaper/wallpaper/wallpaper-0e2c0dd.jpg[/t][t]http://i.cdn.turner.com/trutv/trutv.com/graphics/photos/serial_killers/notorious/texas_chainsaw_massa/Chainsaw200.jpg[/t][t]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dVZDF-rZY2c/T3OFTGPHDPI/AAAAAAAABgY/0b5TtqUo3-0/s1600/Texas+Chainsaw+wielding.jpg[/t] I just thought it could be a cool inspiration for someone, and Pyro definitely could use some more scary psychopath killer items for a change.
Could you post a pic of it?
Did this ever get released as a mod? If not... well, why not?
