I can agree on both levels. I think it tries to detail itself to say "I'm gleaming" without actually gleaming. So it over-details itself and as a result the right things aren't popping. The lines separating the different bits look flat. They look like lines rather than separation points between parts of the helmet. I think silver and gold can work. You just can't be afraid to try it. The Conquistador sort of got roasted for trying to present a shined metal look.
Take note: I'm not saying the texture looks bad. I'm just saying it doesn't fit with the style. I think my difficulty describing the issue with it is because the first thing that comes to mind is trying to think of what game it reminds me of. Might be Borderlands.
I don't understand any of this
Trebuchet, 200 metal to build, manual aiming like the wrangler or something?

mmm dunno if manual aiming or not...

Looks great. 5 stars. Two thumbs.
Any chance of getting shots from the side/back?
here we go again...
On a serious note, I really do want to see you do it, my version was forever ago and I've improved loads since then but you're still a better modeler than me so I want to see how you make it
(p.s. crossbows and bows and arrows are my favorite medieval weaponry <3)

At least thats what i think he said.

There we go, I'd call that pretty much finished.
Taking name suggestions then (including but not forgetting The Innsmouth Look as a previous suggestion). :v:

Was it wrong that the first thing I thought of after seeing this was Banjo-Tooie's water level?

At first my tired mind thought it was an obscure reference to Indiana Jones (Dr. Jones) and his fridge antics.
I really have no idea why I thought of that.
Yes.

Heh, my first thought was Dick Jones and mixing it up with the locker scenes from Robocop
EDIT: I never asked for a Pageking
EDIT: have one on me

Eeshton rates me dumb, but a locker kinda like that appears in the game (10:21)

So hopefully I'll sound a little less stupid for bringing that up
(Another one of the lockers is "M. Bates" :v: )

I'm still curious if it works well with misc items that changes Pyro's mask, I reckon it could end up a deciding factor if your item gets in the game or not.
I can't see that bit of seaweed specifically draping over the big bit on the side working well with any other masks, even if it does look nice on the default.

It doesn't work well at all unfortunately the placement is right off in terms of where everything is positioned. It's very specific to the default pyro head.
working on harakiwi's rocket launcher from his soldier set and we're having some trouble deciding on a color scheme.

This is what my first wip looks like, I tried to go for and dark and evil look but the tank looked wierd in any dark color so i made it cream spirit, and to justify team colors i tried making the shield red, this leaves it rather colorful though.
Harakiwi want it to be green and gray but i'm having some trouble finding any colors that look good and has contrast
any tips and crits could be helpful

Yeah, that's what I was worried about and the reason I wanted you to try it out before you decided you were finished.

Part of me is tempted to ask if it would be possible to make the bit under the hatches and on the right-side valve paintable. Or how it would look the same color as the rest.
Also,

Awesome.
So I was fiddling around with ideas for a neon sign backpack for pyro.

My first idea was to have a neon sign that said "Eat at (name here)" in the tube style lettering, but it's very poly intensive. Was going to have the name plate be just a lit glass piece that is decalable.
Edit:
Names?
"Eatery Endorsement"
"Eclectic Endorser"
Descriptions?
"Come with me if you want to eat."
Was it wrong that the first thing I thought of after seeing this was Banjo-Tooie's water level?
Not at all, that's the inspiration.
