That thing looks almost exactly like the FaN.
That thing looks almost exactly like the FaN.
This is just a mockup, I'm not using the colors or texture anything. I'm purely asking about the shape. I feel like I need to change the stock somehow.
A friend´s model with a bit of my help. It´s a jar full of leeches (it wll need a nice texture like the coccoa machine content one in Urser´s model) and scissors for applying them to the pacients Will be anyone interested in texturing this little misc?
This is just a mockup, I'm not using the colors or texture anything. I'm purely asking about the shape. I feel like I need to change the stock somehow.
You should have made it just a silhouette then.
That thing looks almost exactly like the FaN.

You should have made it just a silhouette then.
So nobody can post concept art and ask opinions about it on a TF2 Emporium thread? What kind of backwards world are you guys from? A simple "yes, it looks like the fan, you should change x proportion to something more like y, because of z" would have sufficed.

If he wanted to drive that point home, it would have been more helpful to post a silhouette without any of the detailings.

NINJAS
He explicitly asked about the silhouette. Though I don't see how it's difficult to see the silhouette with what was given, I can see the silhouette just fine even though it's concept art. :V Stop being nitpicky about a darn concept and help the guy out.
Sorry I posted, um, wrong.

I always thought the Jumpers weren't meant to look impressive as they're simply training weapons. But whatever floats boats full of stoats with oats, I guess.
The humor used to be significantly more subtle and classy than it is these days though. I don't think original TF2 was "wacky and silly", it had a comedic overtone, but it wasn't like the kids show on lsd it is today.
Yeah I figured my summer set was silly, but to be honest I think it's a disgrace that the christmas items are all usuable all year round, most of them look cazy specific to chrismas and therefore silly (BMOC, Head Case, etc). The Winter ones are okay. Full moons are way too common too, which makes the whole game look retarded for a lot of the year. I honestly tried to make the whole set look as ridiculously colourful and out of place as the summer shades/flip flops/all the Valve made summer items from last year.
I always thought the Jumpers weren't meant to look impressive as they're simply training weapons. But whatever floats boats full of stoats with oats, I guess.
Not impressive, visually distinct. You should be able to tell pretty easily what kind of weapon your enemy is using. Before the only way you could tell if someone was using the RJ is if they weren't hurting your with their rockets. At least now identification isn't an issue with the new paint job and slight remodel. This mod just enhances that.
I honestly tried to make the whole set look as ridiculously colourful and out of place as the summer shades/flip flops/all the Valve made summer items from last year.
Well you did a horrible job because I think they fit the palette nicely and are not too ridiculous.
Well you did a horrible job because I think they fit the palette nicely and are not too ridiculous.
Don't worry. Valve Will take care of the problem.
Nepodhodit to the biography of a hero. It's pretty obvious what he's saying, jeez
Nepodhodit (Не подходит) means "Doesn't fit" in Russian. :eng101: [sp] wait, that should be :rus101: in this case[/sp]
Yeah the comment clearly translates as, "doesn't fit the Soldier's character, doesn't fit the games art style", but that's no fun. It fits the games art style (colour palette, paint patches) and fits the Soldier's character (bit mad). It doesn't quite fit TF2s original serious tone but I think it's well in line for summer-themed items considering we got a literal santa hat at christmas. Hey, anyone remember Heretic? That really old medieval game ID Software made after Doom? Well I made the Phoenix Rod from it: It was kind of a speedmodel done for fun, finished in less than an hour. Regardless, "Agree" if you think I should upload for people to download, or "Disagree" if you think I shouldn't.
Lol, I wonder what the third person view looks like. xD Other than that, good job. Edit: and apparently there are more gems on that thing.

Did I mention I love you? Also, you should try to make it the texture look more like in the game. Edit: There a few details you should change in the model, like the gem should be inside, or the "wings" of the weapon looks different.

[editline]1st June 2012[/editline] wahey page king
Though I do agree with you that the Santa hat shouldn't be able to be worn all year, I still believe that hats should fit the characters. They used to do just that. -Scout is a loud mouthed sports lover, justifying the Batter's Helm and Bonk Helm, and Baker Boy wearers were usually kids who yelled out headlines as they sold newspapers. -Soldier is a crude war fighter who uses anything he can get and doesn't rely too much on forward eyesight in battle, justifying any eye covering hats plus the Pot and Tyrant's Helm. -Pyro is literally crazy, they all kind of are, but Pyro is probably the most, SOMEWHAT justifying him wearing anything he wants. -Demoman is a Black-Scottish explosives expert, justifying the Fro and Bonnet. Stove Pipe is a bit strange. -Heavy's a Russian tough guy, justifying the Football Helmet and Ushanka, the Toque was a bit ironic. -Engy is a native Texan genius who loves utilities and machines, justifying all his first hats. -Medic is a German doctor, justifying his Mirror, and the two first German hats he had. -Sniper is a laid back yet skillful survivalist, his skill shows in a headband showing his fighting ability and a band that shows teeth he's collected. The Panama shows his lazy side. -Spy is a Gentleman who uses products to infiltrate bases. His Fedora and Billycock show his charm, while the Camera Beard, although silly, can fool someone in the TF2-verse (think cardboard mask disguises.) Thing with the B.M.O.C. and many other all class hats though: They're for all classes. Not many things will fit everyone of the different mercenaries well. Thus, people choose to lean towards the more silly side of things when making an all class item. Hats and other items from therein have started to stray from the original somewhat fitting nature of the original items. The items you made are well within the lines of the games design theory, and your execution was superb as they look like they belong in the game. But ask yourself this: Can you kill a man with a Water Pistol? Everything in the game has been made to be harmful in whatever way suits. Hitting someone with a Fish will still hurt them when they're continuously wailed on, same goes for hitting them with a large Candy Cane, a Mailbox, a Golf Club, getting hit with the glass shards of a jar full of urine, and a ton of other items. The mittens and icicle (perhaps sharpened) are definitely a stretch, but a sprits from a water gun can't kill anyone. I still really hope to see the set ingame though. Upvoting 'em now. [editline]1st June 2012[/editline]

The color is weird. It looks way too much like piss, or a laser lemon color more so. Using more of an orange-ish color I think would look better.
-Heavy's a Russian tough guy, justifying the Football Helmet and Ushanka, the Toque was a bit ironic.
What does iron have to do with anything?
Svdl gotta make something for SMNC.
getting hit with the glass shards of a jar full of urine
Jarate doesn't hurt though. And you say all weapons hurt but a huge portion don't. Also, a lot of those class explanations were desperate grabs that could be applied to most new hats, they aren't great reasons and fact is even some of the original hats don't fit well. Plus you say all class needs to be sillier, but that's not true at all, all class should be simple things that anyone might wear. If there's no one personality to base an item on and flanderize, it should be less silly. I don't like the idea people have that items that are earlier are less silly. Sure we get a lot of shit ones now, but, for example, stainless pot is based on silly cartoons with improvised helmets, meanwhile it took us until the second community update to get a drill hat even though drill sergeants were the primary influence for the soldier's character.

I suck at texturing. Like, a lot. So if anyone is interested in texturing, send me a PM
Svdl gotta make something for SMNC.
I asked pretty much all of the devs and they said no Workshop for SMNC at least for a long time. That made me sad, as it would be really cool and fun to make items for it. :(

Unfitting promo items as well. Though I think I can forgive the Spycicle despite it being very winter-themed, because it's so cool (pun unintended). It at least isn't obviously holiday-styled like Wrap Assassin and Holiday Punch. I think HP could be a bit better if it used the unimplemented Ushanka-style when it's not winter, however.
Is there a Dota 2 Emporium on which I can request someone to make Lich look more like Kel'Thuzad?
In the name of the King Lich this has to be done.
