the default colors will be different between the band and hat, but once it's painted the entire hat will be the same color.

I use GIMP for the actual texturing, but I use photoshop to make the alpha's for paintability. So I am more fluent in GIMP than in photoshop.

So I am more fluent in GIMP than in photoshop.[/QUOTE] Open the TGA in gimp. with the fully paintable alpha, then create a new layer and set it to divide, then pick the the lightest color there(in other words the basecolor that just paints the hat and not the band). Color over the texture in the layer set to divide and tada a fully paintable texture. That how I did it for the fully paintable hard counter.

It's always bothered me that it's supposed to be a trucker cap but the thing looks solid.

Unless you colored the band the band's color and the hat the hat's color and instead of coloring the whole thing with either color.
In the VMT it's set to the hat's color. The band has a screen of it's color on it.

I've got the hitbox marked out and junk, not I have to figure out what I'm going to do with it and refine it into something nice to look at that won't kill people's computers. If you're going to say that is looks like the pomson shot, congrats, you have eyes. The bullet look will be toned down in the end and given the same rings of death as the original in the end... Only better and more readable.

So then ,with the three styles, there would be three different models (six if you include a set of lods), four vmts, and three textures with three different alpha maps.

It's got all its base systems set up and junk and is about ready to be finalized and then cloned and mangled into an overly noisy critical effect. Tomorrow I will fine tune the hell out of this and make the main bolt smaller and the rings bigger so it all balances out and junk... But right now I'm going to bed. I gotta say, I love doing these laser effects. I can have so much freedom doing these great, glowing lasers of doom and I can draw inspiration from just about anything. For example, these were heavily inspired by [URL="http://youtu.be/N8Xp_ODtSPw?t=5m56s"]Wind Waker's light arrows[/URL]. Ok... NOW I'm going to bed.
