Not quite sure how much I should base it on the sentry and how much I should base it on the turret.
I suggest just going nuts and making a bunch of concepts for this. You might inspire yourself with an even better way to make this idea even better.
Hey guys, me and Kibble could really use some help. I wanted to do a speed set for the scout, something based on running or him being a track runner, not about soda as much as I love Bang's set. The problem is me and kibble are at a sort of stand still with him wanting to make it as he had shown while I want something more clean and aerodynamic. Any suggestions on what we should do directly to stand out? At this point in his concept it looks as if we are trying to copy Bang and I really want to stay as far away from that as possible.

We are trying some new stuff, I am not really happy with the wings as I don't actually want them but we could really use some suggestions on how to spice it up.
Would love some criticism on this.
I'm thinking about making the side plates less wide, not sure about the configuration of the middle parts or if the weapon there should stay on level two or not,
I might make the top pop up for level 3 and I might try a more interesting design for the level 2 guns. For example i might try to squeeze in a small set of mini guns and maybe let a pair of bullet belts hang out.
Not quite sure how much I should base it on the sentry and how much I should base it on the turret.
Definitively gotta add a radio antenna in place of the turret's.
The only thing I can think of besides using a tripod version of the level two sentry legs for level two is maybe making the turret's body longer/taller.
Compared to the portal turret, its too squat in its proportion of the body to the legs, matching the proportions of the sentry more.
Since the overall art style of the turret is going to be based on the sentry, also using the sentry's proportions might be a little too much.
I guess it all depends on the degree you want it to resemble either machine.

I think it'll be sort of hard to come up with ideas that don't seem too far-fetched and gimmicky, as track runners aren't that well-known for packing heat, and the only really obvious choice of a cosmetic is already made. I have three words for you, though; Starting pistol secondary.

Very true, it is still extremely in development, I really like your idea for the starting pistol secondary but the style of it may be hard to fit into the game and maintain the look. The cosmetic we are working on but we we want to make it as far away from the front runner as we can, again that is difficult. We come up with so many themes though that this one may not even go anywhere, I just liked the idea.

I don't see why it couldn't fit, it's pretty similar to the stock pistol. I'm pretty sure it's chronologically appropriate as well, as the Wikipedia article for starting pistols has an image that's apparently taken in '61.
Also, starting guns can apparently be converted into firing live ammunition, so it's not unrealistic either.
In any case, good luck with the set! I like the general idea.
I'm watching a let's play of Grim Fandango and having a wonderful nostalgia trip. Wouldn't this make a brilliant soundmod for one of the Heavy's minigun firing voice responses?

And this, either for being set on fire or for cart going backwards. Holy fuck this game has some brilliant voice acting.
Maybe give him a shotgun based on paratrooper weapons? Hollow stock with holes in it, thin, lightweight and portable looking design, maybe have it be a fold-out weapon? Sorry, but the current scatter concept looks like a toy.
Edited: In fact, I think I'll whip up some bad concept art for a lightweight shotgun when I get home. Additionally, what the hell is a parashooter? I'm retarded.

Need someone to texture it? or are you fine doing it yourself or do you have someone to texture it for you?

Maybe for level two you could have the guns extend a bit, showing a small set of minigun-like barrels. For level 3 have two panels on the top angles of the Sentry body extend, revealing two missile launchers.
Also, maybe you could add a radio speaker under the main gun so it can speak Texas-Ized versions of the Turret quotes.

The paint on the "knuckles" could possibly be more worn. These things are used to pummel people to death after all.
I'm not that good at drawing stuff at all, I'm even worse drawing digitally. But here I atleast attempted "concept art" and I hope someone would do it and apply it on the workshop (Maybe att me as creator, too :v:) or just model it.
It would be so nice if executed properly.

''Astute Arbre Magique''.
I know the colors are bad, as mentioned I'm not good at this stuff. I know they should be more discrete ones but here I just wanted to mark it a bit more clear how it'd look
Wee, dungeons of dredmor got a workshop.
You want the wear to be on the bits that actually come in to contact with stuff while the hammer is being used. The head needs to be a different color than the metal spike straps around it. I suggest making it a silver/iron color.
In order to have your pack stand out like you want it to, one of the things you have to lay out as ground-work is the weapon choices and, more specifically, their animations.
I suggest making a new throwable for Scout as we only have 1.

An oil slick that makes enemies unable to stop moving or change direction until they hit something?
Anyone here bored enough to take a request?
An oil slick that makes enemies unable to stop moving or change direction until they hit something?
Why not baseball mud? Would make more sense if it causes enemies to slow down, plus it's more fitting for the scout.
Ok.. I really shouldn't be butting in any more since this is in no way my project and kibble already fills the role of concept artistry, buuuuuut I accidentally made a crude sketch of the basic shape of a scattergun inspired by Lobster_fist's post and those guns they use in olympic pigeon shooting, and then I tripped and the paper fell into the scanner and.. Well you know how stuff sometimes just happens. Anyway, if I don't refine it any more than this I think I can can claim it's just a picture showing off the aesthetic properties of paper ruined by erasers if anyone accuses me of trying to get involved.

We are very set on using a scattergun base, that isn't really intended to change. The misc is pretty up but I do really like Deo's idea of a race pistol, the only problem is that it looks a bit to much like the default pistol and has no real flare so we would need to spice it up. A melee is also really up int he air, I was thinking a track baton but those are just generally really, really bland and usually only consist of one color. This idea is not one of our most stellar packs but I have been wanting to do a scout pack for ages but ideas that havent been done/actually work with him are a bit few and far between.
Anyone know how I can parent a model to a certain bone? I'm hoping to create a replacement for the Pyro's fuel tank and I have no idea how I can do this, I'm using 3DS Max as my modelling software.
Speaking of scout secondaries, I'd also started making a Starter pistol about 2 weeks ago :v:
I'll probably never finish it though, knowing me.
Plus, mine's a revolver
Also, should I call this finished?:
