And it makes sense, IC is supposed to be hand-made.
Still, It has the same stats as the standard mini. It's easier to respond to if they look roughly the same. Less for your brain to process
Dahlokos would be better. EDIT:Why can't we have both?
i recall reading somewhere that the creator of the Dalokohs bar is highly opposed to people using the Dalokohs brand on their items, i could be wrong though.
i recall reading somewhere that the creator of the Dalokohs bar is highly opposed to people using the Dalokohs brand on their items, i could be wrong though.
I think he meant the model replacing the Dalokohs Bar, itself.
I think he meant the model replacing the Dalokohs Bar, itself.
oh, i'm an idiot
So I'm trying to make a BFG-9000 in the hopes that Bethesda will do a promo for Doom 3: BFG edition (Which comes out this fall). Already got a guy who'll do custom animations over the Cow Mangler, so far so good, the problem is the model itself: Mind, it's not a finished model, but I really feel like it's missing something. I tried my best to get it somewhat like the sprite, but the first-person sprite is such a clusterfuck of stuff it's hard to tell what goes where, and the pickup sprite is the opposite, with no detail at all. Any advice?
Same motivation as with the Original texture, If it works the same way it might as well kinda look the same. Replaced the hammer and sickle with a gauge so that part looks like it has a reason for being there. Gonna put a few brushstrokes and some edge highlights on it too
That looks sexy,i'd want it if i didn't gift my iron curtain to someone
Livestreaming the rigging of this guy, if any of you are curious as to the workflow. Also gonna do some tf2 stuff afterwards, should be fun! http://www.livestream.com/sparkwire
Flamboyant Chocobo?
More progress. I'm on a roll! Added some cuts and scratches on the mask, also decided it would be simpler to simply bend the Tiki torch as you see below and bind them together instead of having it in three sections. In terms of things I still need to do, Mexican asked me to re-do the handle, so I'm thinking about basing the new handle off one of those hose-faucet things they use to pour drinks at bars. (I don't know what they're called. Blame the fact that I'm not that big of a drinker...) I'm also considering adding a Lei on it just to give it more of a Tiki look, maybe some palm branches hanging off the bottom, (Because if they were on top they would obstruct the player's view.) Think that would be okay?
This is probably the best place to ask this. If I'm hexing a weapon that uses v and w models to replace a weapon that uses c models, do I choose the v or w model? Edit:
I did this thing with TF2 in the back of my head, dunno if I should be arsed to rework it as a proper item though (the unwrap is so terrible I ended up putting very little detail in the unwrapped parts or else it would have been obvious how terrible it is. yay flat colors)
Holy god, yes. If it's long enough to fit the animations, could you make it as a pomson skin?
While it's probably no big deal, I got bored and theorized that it'd be possible to rip stage based models from games, import them as a giant mesh obj, then export to SMD to compile in Source. I did it with the thought in mind that other games maps could be imported into Hammer as a gigantic mesh to "trace" over for accurate recreations of maps in Hammer. Well, in my boredom, I attempted it and actually succeeded. I have textures, but I'd have to go through manually editing each one in the SMD in order to make them show up, and that clearly isn't worth the effort for a simple PoC. So, here it is. This is an N64 rip of Ganon's castle (exterior) being imported into Source. I could likely apply this to things like Lon Lon Ranch or Kokiri forest and make a series of brushes to overlay models similar to what's seen here. I'm probably millenniums late on this; but I have never actually seen it done elsewhere.

So I'm trying to make a BFG-9000... Any advice?
You may be able to take some inspiration from the BFG10K from Quake 2, since that's actually a model. Looking forward to progress on this.

Is. Awesome. (maybe just the special effects though)
Make it Use the orignals animations?
That seems fine and all up until the player reloads with it...
Make it Use the orignals animations?
The guy who did the Soldier and Demoman weapon reanimations said he'll help, so it'll be over the Cow Mangler. And I got my reminder to not bitch about a model so early in development, because I feel so much better about it now:

Because I do. Anybody who makes a BFG for soldier is cool in my book. Now, all we need is the Doom shotgun, and my life will be complete.

Fantastic job, by the way. Are you planning on making other weapons to go alongside it?
Hi, I'm looking for an artist who could draw a medal - it could be your concept, your idea, your whatever. Just add me on steam and we'll get talking (it's for the Pros vs Pubbers event I held a while ago, just want to get this done while I have the time). Make it cool and I'll have my modeling genie pop it out. e; alternatively PM me, I'm just looking for someone who can do it
does it replace sounds, too?
Yes there are sound replacements. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the sounds, it plays on all knives except the spycicle.
Well the mesh is done. GOD I'm gonna have fun unwrapping it :suicide: It did come together much faster than I thought. While I'm unwrapping it, any offers on texturing the BFG-9000? If I send you it, will you get that working in Source? I've always wanted a "good" Green Hill for TF2. Maybe as a trade map, or even better, Mecha's Parkour Fortress. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] What, is nobody on Facepunch tonight or something? Well screw you all, then, I'm double-posting! Finished the unwrap of the BFG. Texture is a bit wonky since I used a mirror for some parts. ANYONE BRAVE ENOUGH TO TEXTURE THIS BEAST?!: (Add me on Steam and/or send me a PM if interested. Thanks!)
Has anyone made a all class chicky hat or tf2 action hero taunts?
OKAY! I swear this is the last BFG thing I'll post until it's finished: Pack up the tea, boys. We're joining the Space Marines! EDIT: Okay, one more. Teh Kiyoshi is doing custom animations over the Cow Mangler for the BFG. It's gonna be awesome, you guys!
