If I'm not mistaken, it's only a few less lines of code to reference color values that are stored directly than to reference an enumerated value and then be redirected to the hex color value in code. On the item server, this isn't quite as efficient as it could be because a hex color code takes more space than an enumerated nonsigned byte, but it's slightly more efficient at runtime to reference something directly instead of indirectly when the paints are rendered on the hats in-game.
well yeah, they can work around it, but they are kinda known for being lazy.
To be honest i'd consider just covering the whole face with a visor. then doing a mesh with alpha transparency. mostly due to how fine the network of the face-part is EDIT: i'm thinking of the kinds used for fencing arn't i. stupid me.
It's based off of a more 1800's kendo design which had more grill rings and had to take some off so i could show more of the face. i think it would nice with a pair of forearm guards and the wooden sword but it should also stand alone on its own which is kinda lacking at the moment. I guess it was a good idea at the time but upon actual application, its kinda doesnt work.
Kendo head gear
Maybe you could make the bars bit grey instead of orange, and maybe make it broken around his left eye?

Vestless Heavy will get this treatment too fairly soon.
Flair hovers away from the body, as do any of the other badges. Looks really good though.

Fencing seems like something that would fit the spy in my opinion.

NO.

I said maybe ;-;
The very first 3d model i made was a fencing mask. I feel that its worse than the kendo idea really. and i agree that the fencing mask would suit the spy more.
I remember that when I also started modeling =)
Man we talk about it like it was ages ago when it was barely a year that passed.

Lucky and handsome bastard.
hexed gmod version soon?
Ew, no. I made a whole different version for gmod: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=129296 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41137667/Casual%20Medic%20and%20Heavy%20v%201.1.zip Also I had to break the player version's eyelids a bit to get rid of the bug-eyed effect. Looks fine in game, but will probably look awful if you try to close his eyes in Garry's Mod. Guess I'll have to tweak them at some point too. [editline]10th April 2012[/editline]
Nice job, but there's a slight problem with the eyelids. Pretty flawless otherwise.
Does it look bad in the game or just in HLMV? I sort of broke them on purpose.
Napy your Fashionable Megalomaniac was featured in this months UK PC gamer.
Thank you for remembering my part in it too. but I also demand sources and images and such. (I wanna buy it to stick it up with the other magazine features I've been in)

Populus will you ever release the garbage set?
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41137667/flair.jpg[/t] There, that's less floaty. If you don't want to download the whole .zip again, here's just the Flair fix: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41137667/coatless-medic-flair-fix.zip Not going to recompile all the promotional pins and highlander medals and such unless somebody begs me. Partly because they don't look nearly as bad as the Flair did, partly because I'm not sure how to not mess them up for the other classes. [editline]10th April 2012[/editline]
Shame it's not HWM.
Gotta wait for somebody to release some decent DMX import/export tools I'm afraid.
Shame it's not HWM.
Aren't Reb and Max working on one?
Sorry if I'm late, but to that pyro garbage set earlier. If a flamethrower is done, it must made from parts of a garbage truck.
Sorry if I'm late, but to that pyro garbage set earlier. I've got basically everything except the pipe figured out, any idea for a garbage truck component that could be used as such? The thing with garbage trucks, though, is that while the general shape of one is very recognizable, the little parts it's made up of aren't.
