Idea for Engineer Halloween melee.
I know that the set is referencing The Fly, but it'd be a shame to have a giant fly running around on Halloween without referencing that other giant fly, Beelzebub.
So I'm thinking a reference to the book, Lord of the Flies would be in order. (In case you need me to hold your hand through the meanings of all this, "The Lord of the Flies" is refers to Beelzebub, who is a corruption of the god Baal Zebul. The book is referring to Beelzebub with it's title)
In that book, the Lord of the Flies manifests itself to one of the characters as a swarm of flies flying around a spear impaling a pig's head. I think this spear, pig head and all would be a clever allusion to the book while simultaneously making the Engineer costume not only a reference to "The Fly" but also a demon, fitting for Halloween.
So yes, a pig head on a double sided spear, wielded as an Engineer melee, with the swarmed flies particle effect. It's clever, it's fitting and it'd be hella sweet.

Hngh. In my opinion, Lord of the Flies is a well-written and very enjoyable book if you interpret the events literally, but the symbolism is boring and heavy-handed. I also think your chain of reasoning from The Fly to pig head is too winding and far-fetched to work as justification.
Maybe a new set completely based around LotF would work, though.

This, exactly whta Deodorant said. Also, I know we already have some gross weapons like a dead fish and piss, but a pig head on a stck with flies? Maybe we can find a better way to use the fly costume as a Beelzebub reference ( I have spent many time drawing different demons, but I usually don´t look too much into their references, we can search a bit further)

Hmm. Maybe a staff with a pig head made of silver or some other material on the end? Keeps the reference, is a bit more classy.
I think a LotF-style pig head would be ok, grossness-wise. I just think the whole fly connection is a bit far-fetched.
It could have some funny custom kill notification, too..
