I arranged the bottles so that the bones are all at the necks, therefore, all the straps have to be there. If they don't align to the coat, then tough shit I say. It's either that or having it stretch illogically.
the straps don't have to be where the bone is, right now it's kind of jarring seeing the two straps up high and the one strap really low. I think a gradient of strap placement would look a million times nicer

They also keep him quickly identifiable as a class, as they're sort of the most obvious thing about his design other than the now-absent big flappy coat.

The only transparent liquid item in TF2 is the jarate, and it's supposed to be detailled as it's a weapon. Just make it opaque, it'll look cleaner and nicer. Kiyoshi, if you read this: I today installed your reaninamted Pyro weapons, and they're bloody awesome. Though I have one.. well, complaint: The melee draw is too long, and you can't even see the weapon for some frames (as in, the Pyro is holding the weapon where you can't see it). Any chance you might "fix" this? Still, I love those animations.

Just awful, for demo at least. I can never in a thousand years imagine him wearing a mask like that for any occasion whatsoever; plus it's more then likely to be rejected due to the teams strong stance on "Face blocking items are made exclusivley for holiday seasons....that's intentional"
if you get rid of the grate, it could be a nice executioner's hood, to not waste the model. Make a big-ol' axe with it I do agree the face covering is a little much.

But its a promise i must keep for a fan. I gave my word that i will make him a kendo set and the least i could do is make it work the best i could. If valve rejects it, at least my poor buddy knew that i tried. I've had far better work that has been rejected (or wasted if some may put it) that at this point, this is not an issue anymore. Besides, no point at getting attached to things. Make stuff the best you could then move on.

Now when i'm actually making the item, it hit me that its not really a good idea to begin with. But yeah, live and we learn. It really pays to see some concept art first than actually making stuff from just your imagination.

You should also see about testing with different liquid opacities. Just to see if it makes an improvement.
