They aren't risky at all, I made a stupid particle hack for the Halloween presents back in the day. Nobody got VAC'd because of it.

you only get VAC'd for dishonestly obtaining dumb virtual items or for playing Call of Duty ever, not for hacking
I'm not sure if RetroMike posts here, but if he doesn't, then I figured I'd share, since it's shaping up to be pretty good: [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/62926950/Triage_Set.png[/t] http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1567334&postcount=13974

Le name it Le bat.
Le bat with le broken le texture and le unwrap
I can't fucking tell if you're saying the bat is broken or the texture is. Fuck, man.
it's La batte.
it's La batte.
It was a joke at ragecomics that use "le" a lot.
I can't fucking tell if you're saying the bat is broken or the texture is. Fuck, man.
Unwrap is broken and it has a placeholder texture.
I'd like to think TF2's artstyle has remained the same, while it's theme is what has deviated since its inception.
I suppose, but setting and style are pretty inseparable things. When the setting was limited to themes and culture from the 60s, the style could be described with the rather unique adjective 'Rockwell-esque'. After a bunch of random crap got thrown in, the style automatically changed to the much more generic 'Cartoony'.
i think the variety in tf2's items and weapons now make it one of the most enjoyable and distinct fps games out there.
HNNNNNNGH! I love variety. I find variety fucking amazing. Because I love variety so much, I find it absolutely fucking tragic to see one of the most stylistically distinctive games in existence turn into yet another generic cesspool of cliché, shallow pop culture references. I like the original TF2 style, I like the stuff in the Grordbort workshop, I like hot chocolate and I like bratwurst. I don't like it when people put bratwursts in my hot chocolate, and I sure as hell don't like it when people put Grordbort weapons in my TF2. Furthermore, the relationship between depth and width is always a tradeoff. I'd much rather choose between three types of flat cap in one game, three types of viking helmet in one game and three types of space goggles in one game than between one generic flat cap, one generic viking helmet and one generic pair of space goggles in all three. And because I just summarized my most dearly held TF2-related beliefs, here's a picture I find aesthetically appealing but want nowhere near TF2, just to catch the attention of people scrolling past text-only posts. Reposting these concepts just incase someone is interested :v:
Reposting these concepts just incase someone is interested :v:
That visor looks fairly straightforward, might give it a shot. But if someone else wants to do it, don't let me stop you.
I can't make hats. At all. I'm stuck to weapons and miscs.
If we are to make TF3 now, what art style do you guys think we should go with?
Cossacks. EDIT: Medieval woodcut-style cossacks.
If we are to make TF3 now, what art style do you guys think we should go with?
Retro 30's cartoon style. Like steamboat willie, but with color.
If we are to make TF3 now, what art style do you guys think we should go with?
Of course something way more over the top than TF2.
Forgive me for asking if this is common knowledge, but are the TF2B weapon/hat icons still being released publicly? Thanks!
Retro 30's cartoon style. Like steamboat willie, but with color.
Oh man, that would be so awesome but it wouldn't lend itself well to community expansion, which I know Valve will continue on with the Team Fortress franchise (and probably all their games)
If we are to make TF3 now, what art style do you guys think we should go with?
I recall a long time ago in an interview moby francke said that he would most likely toy with a more realistic styling, in the sense of still cartoonesque but with more detail/less exaggeration. Personally I'd like to see it set in roughly the 1980's, the rise of computers & megacorperations, that sort of stuff. Art style? I dunno, but as long as it's different from TF2 to help give it a good distinction.
Reposting these concepts just incase someone is interested :v:
I think I'll make the belt when I get a chance (probably in a couple days). i'd like to get a stab at an updated soldier model with slightly more/better detail and of course at the same time have the current items easily updated for the new model. I may be asking for too much.
The player models really could use an update, especially the textures. If they'd just allow for mipclip above the defaults it would be a lot better, but in 2012, the very compressed and small textures are... getting dated, and aren't really as needed for optimization as they were before. Portal 2 shows that Source scales VERY well in this regard.
